Hollywood already made a movie about Jeff, starring Penn Badgley as Jeff, specifically about that time he participated in a tribute show to his dad, before his own career took off. But yeah, I’m sure there will be more in the future, as Jeff’s legacy only seems to grow with time passing.

Great choice. This guy had a huge impact on the music scene in a very short space of time, having released only one record (Grace) before drowning by accident in the Memphis river. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant caught him perform at a small venue and would go on to rave about him. David Bowie said Grace was one of his desert island albums and Chris Cornell also sang his praises, dedicating a song to Jeff on one of his solo records. Bob Dylan said Jeff was one of the best songwriters of his generation, and Matt Bellamy also credits Jeff Buckley as an influence. Bizarrely Jeff even has fans in the likes of Brad Pitt. Jeff was part way through recording his next record before drowning, and it would have been called “My Sweetheart the Drunk”. He never recorded it to a standard he was happy with, but his family later released it posthumously and it was essentially demos, yet they still sound absolutely brilliant. Love Jeff, and would love to see more reactions! Hallelujah live usually has a big impact on people.

@The Misanthrope Man Plant and Page actually saw Jeff perform, at least, twice. Once at the Gurtenfestival in Switzerland, and another time in Australia. They also performed at Glastonbury ‘95, but Page and Plant only heard Jeff’s set from another stage.

When I first heard Jeff Buckley’s music I instantly loved it and was devastated to learn he was no longer with us to continue the amazing path he was on. I can only compare his loss to one I was along for the ride with, Chris Cornell. I still can’t believe he is gone. Such beautiful talented men gone too soon.

A local music writer here once said in a tribute to him that his voice in this song was like a lighted candle ascending a darkened staircase. That tribute meant so much to me that I wrote to the writer to thank him. When Jeff died, he was virtually unknown here in the states. Barely a mention, other than the tragic way in which he died. It hit me so hard. Still does. Thank you for reacting to his music. It is timeless.

I disagree. It’s distracting. In fact, for that reason, Jeff chose not to include lyrics in the Grace liner notes, as he wanted people to just experience the music, rather than focusing on reading the lyrics, and which detracts from one’s ability to focus on the music.

There have been several attempts at a film. Franco was intakes for one years ago, then with singer/actor Reeve Carney. One of my favorite songs of all time. He plays the keys, all the guitars and songs all the lead and backing vocals. There is one background note he hits that sends a shiver down my spine every time.

0'50" It happens . 2'19" Listen to this rythms. Now i think we have the use of spatole in italiano on the snare that i mentioned or yesterday or two days ago . Or maybe the classic stics only the border of the snare . Anyway this kind of groove is perfect for Jazz spatole . 4'29" Begin of rolls/fill with many ghostnotes ! Highly technical and ""simple"" at the same time ! Great rythm section like in the other song ! Guys the sound of the kick is gorgeous

I have often thought James Franco looked like Jeff Buckley. I don't know if I'd take James seriously enough to play Jeff, though, unfortunately. This song is really a mood all on its own. The lyrics paint such a vivid picture, yet they're just open-ended enough that listeners can relate in their own way. 'I feel like i'm having memories of this song' is so freaking real! And Jeff's ability to emote through his vocal performance is unparalleled (although John Farnham, who I know you've reacted to before, comes very close). Long before I understood how technically gifted he was, I was captivated by the emotion in his voice.

There is a movie to be made with a guy named Reeves Carney as the lead. At one point like 10 years ago or more there was this idea of a movie starring Franco as Jeff and he was very interested and even said he would probably have to mimic to Jeff's voice as nobody could sing like him if the project was to be done but that never went forward . I also think he was the best choice ever to play him cause they were awfully alike back then, too bad now its too late cause the guy is more than 40 and doesnt look like Jeff that much anymore.
