They wrote this song in response to a rock critic who said Van Halen only makes songs about women, partying and cars. David Lee Roth said we've never made a song about cars, but thanks for the idea.👍

I saw these guys quite a few times , One of The Times I was smashed up against the stage and David Lee Roth was slinging his sweat all over me and I couldn't get away ! Even security was starting to freak out !

This is MUSIC! 🥰 Van Halen - what more can you say - RIP Eddie, you were an inspirational guitarist (especially to me) and are sorely missed. David Lee Roth is brilliant as always. This was one of my favourite bands of all time - they still are - along with Magnum (the UK band - not the series!), AC/DC, Marillion, Rush, Whitesnake, Motorhead, Asia, Yes and so many other different genre bands like Supertramp, The Moody Blues, Genesis, Steeleye Span (folk/rock), The Jam - the list just goes on and on. What an incredible period for rock music and an inspiration to so many. Look at the Spotify charts now ... what? 😥 There is fabulous new music around but not well supported by music companies.

@@RavenFire4He was an inspirational guitarist especially tap-style. Just look at "Eruption" for instance. Brian May was/is just as amazing as I ❤ the version of the Paul Bliss "Star Fleet" theme tune (the puppet/anime-like series nothing to do with Star Trek) they did for their children (the two families had holidays together). Just awesome. There are brilliant bands out there like "Greta Van Fleet" but nowhere near as many. Where are the inspirational musicians these days? 😢 Best wishes ❤ Jo.

Van Halen with DLR were straight up cool. He could get an audience hyped up like no other. I saw them a couple of times with Dlr and with Sammy but the original line up just really kicked ass. You guys would love "Ice Cream Man". Really fun song.

Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen, the magnificent brothers who held the band together but let Dave take one Jump too many out of the group. Wow that's beautiful and powerful with dynamics. Has anyone ever heard what Michael Anthony has felt through the years? He was the killer bassist on stage but yet it seems like he's being paid to keep, or stay, quiet off stage. Very bizarre but smart 🤓.

After David Lee Roth left VH for the first time, he went to school and eventually became an EMT in New York City. I always wondered what it would have been like to be a pedestrian in NYC who tripped on a curb, broke their leg, and then when the ambulance pulled up: out jumps David Lee Roth! I think I would have had a heart attack and died. Additionally, DLR has a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

The shots in the beginning of the video of the cops arresting them is actually out of Madison Wisconsin at a local hotel. Van Halen is banned for life from that hotel and they mentioned Madison in the footnotes of Van Halen 2

Kick ass tune! The party always got going when this song began. Air guitars, chugging beers and trying to kick high like Dave was doing and usually falling over. I love both versions of VH. People can argue who was better but the fact is they were uniquely different. Under Sammy, the band became more refined. Under Dave it was a party band and both were awesome!

The original version of the song was about a race but their producer said it was too boring and not a vintage VanHalen topic so he told them to change the song to make it about a girl and the result is what you just saw.

The band is full of talent 1. Eddy was and is probably thee best on guitar 2. Alex played a bada$$ drum solo . 3. Michael A. Has the voice and played a bada$$ base 4. David L. That's funny that the song is about a car cause back when I was a teenager, we didn't have internet on cell phones so there was no way to know what a song was truly about...it just came on MTV or the radio and you jammed to it and made your own assumptions about the song...I always thought it was just about like a chaotic event and crazyness that happens...like people fleed the scene in a panamatic way...I guess like panicking. Or, I thought it was about a hot girl and that feeling you got looking at her cause he says "she's coming over me" but I guess he was referring to the car as a she lol I don't know....hearing what is about now kind of deflates the song to me. It was more fun to listen to when I was 13...but I also didn't care about the lyrics....I just knew it jamned...
