I'm not much of a KISS fan, but Crazy Nights is one of my favourite albums ever. I think Bruce Kulick was KISS's greatest guitarist.

Bruce Kulick was the perfect guitarist to take Ace Frehley's place. He was the only KISS member to never wear makeup and he was a beast of a guitarist. Crazy Nights is one of my favorite albums of all time and one of KISS's best. Glad that you two are enjoying your tour of KISS's music. I've seen them live with the original lineup in 1997 during the reunion tour and during the 80's during the unmasked era. Amazing band and so loving and adoring towards their fans. Their concerts are an exercise in a wild, insane party from start to finish. Never be a band like them ever again that's for sure.

It's a great pop tune...KISS went super commercial on this album but there are still some great heavy tunes to check out: No No No, I'll Fight Hell To Hold You, Thief In The Night...my favorite tune on this album is Hell or High Water.

...and now for something completely different. Hooligan by Kiss, live at the Summit in Houston. The original catman drummer, Peter Criss sings lead, and he has a badass soulful r&b voice. You both are great, peace.

as much as I love early Kiss, i have to admit, i think we all do, they could write the f*ck out of some pop songs....

They had face paint initially when they created the vision of the band in 1973 and kept it going for about 7 years or so, then decided to take it off. (big mistake, in my opinion). They performed without it for 15 years or so,....until they decided to reunite with the original four and put the make-up back on in 1995. They've had it on ever since. I suspect most people want to see them in full costume, superhero/monster personas, platform boots, full masquerade, bombastic, larger-than-life, max pyro, melt-your-skull attitude, etc. One thing is certain, they're going to bring it every time....with or without make-up.

At the time, I didn't like them taking the make-up off but looking back it was the right thing to do. KISS was finished, especially in America, they had to do something to reinvent themselves and jump start their career. I think they succeeded.

I liked the REVENGE album so much better. Eric had passed away by then, but Eric Singer rocked it good. It was heavier, and a return to KISS sleaze. Check out the song DOMINO that Gene sings on

Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr came in at a time when KISS's fame and staying power as a band was in question. At the start of the 1980's the Los Angeles strip was a breeding ground for newer, hravier and more melodic music dubbed "hair metal" and bands like KISS, Aerosmith, Foreigner and so many other big names of the 1970's were at a crossroads. KISS had just lost Peter Criss and Ace Frehley was on his way out. After a brief outing with Vinnie Vincent and shortly after Mark St. John, Bruce Kulick who had already been filling for Mark St. John proved to be the last piece of the puzzle. KISS in the 1980's showed us a more refined and polished sound, a tighter and more technical band that had chemistry that flowed and some of the best KISS songs came from this. Sadly Eric Carr lost his life to heart cancer RIP to one of the very best rock drummers in history and Bruce Kulick bowed out graciously when KISS reunited and became the original fearsome foursome again. Tommy Thayer is a great guitarist in his own write, but I personally think that Bruce Kulick should have been asked to rejoin the band after the reunion fell apart and Ace and Peter departed again for the final time.
