I Still Call Australia Home | QANTAS TV Commercial | TV ad | 2022
• I Still Call Australia...
The classic song (anthem) "I Still Call Australia Home" by Peter Allen, sung by a cast of Australians including Kylie Minogue, Hugh Jackman, Troye Sivan, the Australian Girls Choir, the National Boys Choir and the Gondwana Choir.
I've been to cities that never close down
From New York to Rome and old London town
But no matter how far or how wide I roam
I still call Australia home
I'm always travelling, I love being free
And so I keep leaving the sun and the sea
But my heart lies waiting over the foam
I still call Australia home
All the sons and daughters spinning 'round the world
Away from their family and friends
I miss you, can't wait to see you
But as the world gets older and colder
It's good to know where your journey ends
Someday we'll all be together once more
When all of the ships come back to the shore
I realise something that I've always known
I still call Australia home
But no matter how far or how wide I roam
I still call Australia
I still call Australia home

years after Qantas first launched an advertising campaign using the iconic Peter Allen anthem I Still Call Australia Home, the airline has unveiled a new version of the advertisement to showcase Australia as the world re-opens and travellers return to the skies.
The advert has a contemporary arrangement of the song and features the vocals of a new generation of the Australian Girls Choir together with National Boys Choir, the Gondwana Choir and some of Australia’s most loved personalities.
Along with Kylie Minogue, Ash Barty, Hugh Jackman and Troye Sivan, the campaign also stars children from Longreach, Qantas staff, Adam Goodes, members of Bangarra Dance Theatre, swimmers Bronte Campbell and Ellie Cole and Aboriginal Elder Rene Kulitja.
The advert was filmed pre-COVID at locations around Australia, from the spectacular Hutt Lagoon in WA to the jagged cliffs of Cape Raoul in Tasmania. Scenes were also filmed in Melbourne, Uluru (Ayers Rock), Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney, South Australia’s salt lakes, Longreach, the Whitsundays, Los Angeles, Tokyo and London.
Hi Suzi & Travis, love watching you both reacting to anything australian. My request is for a TV commercial that Australia's national airline Qantas made. The song itself was written in 1980 by the late Australian singer/entertainer Peter Allen. There are several well known Australians in the ad, Hugh jackman, kylie Minogue & ash barty being 3 of them. The Australian girls choir & National boys choir are also featured. As a patriotic Aussie I still tear up anytime I watch it and have seen reactors on KZfaq from other countries also need a tissue. Hope you enjoy xx Qantas did used to play it on their international flights as the plane was landing back in Australia. I'm unsure if they still do though as I haven't flown with them since before the pandemic.
i still call australia home, peter allen, kylie minogue, hugh jackman, troye sivan, australian girls choir, national boys choi, gondwana choir, advance australia fair, australian national anthem, australian national anthem new, australian national anthem new version, australian national anthem new lyrics, australian national anthem new one, australian national anthem new words, australian national anthem 2021, australia day, 2022, i am australian, REACTION, REACTIONS

It always brings me to tears, as does The Seekers' "I am Australian", Eric Bogle's "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda", and the incredible "I Was Only 19". We don't recite the Oath of Allegiance, nor do we place a hand over our hearts for the National Anthem, but never underestimate the love we have for our country!

My family emigrated to Australia when I was three, but my parents moved back to Ireland. After spending a couple of years in the US years ago, I flew back into Sydney with views of the Harbour and Opera House and this song playing and yes, many tears were shed!! FYI, the beautiful indigenous woman at the very start of the video is Maringka Baker, the artist who designed the indigenous Qantas plane exteriors we all have come to love. QANTAS (pronounced Kwontas) stands for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services, as it started off servicing only these areas. Today it is a renowned international airline and Australia's official national airline. Also - HUGH JACKMAN was a singer and musical theatre star well before he did any acting 😂

QANTAS is an acronym (thus no U) for Queensland and. Northern Territory Airline Service. Fun fact: Peter Allen (an Australian who was briefly married to Liza Minnelli and found success in America) wrote I Still Call Australia Home. A musical, and then a movie, was made about Peter Allen - The Boy from Oz - and Hugh Jackman played him in the movie. So yes, Hugh Jackman has always been musical. I believe he also performed on Broadway in the lead role in Oklahoma. Absolutely love your reactions guys. Such great personalities! And I always look forward to seeing what look Suzie will be rocking - so gorgeous!

Wow, what a gem for the day. Thank you! Among others featured, the children in the school hall were from the Public School in Longreach, the town where QANTAS started. The two female swimmers are Olympic gold medalist Brontë Campbell and Paralympic gold medallist Ellie Cole. The monolith you see at the beginning is very real, it’s the sacred site Uluru (Ooluhroo), located in central Australia in what we call The Outback. The boys were playing Rugby League, another of our four codes of football (along with AFL.) Did Aussie passengers sing this when it was played on the QANTAS flight coming in to Sydney? Yes, while reaching for the tissues.

There are numerous versions of this ad over the years. Each one better than the last. This one was released after covid so it was especially emotional.

This song was written by the late Peter Allen, who was one of the first Aussie entertainers to have commercial success in America. QANTAS adopted it as their theme song, and it was incredibly successful.

I seen an older version of this ad in a movie theatre about 15yrs ago. I'd been away from Australia for 3yrs at that time, & the ad had me in tears missing home. 2weeks later I was back in Sydney

Qantas is pronounced Kwantus, as if there is a u. The reason it doesn't is it is an acronym for Queensland And Northern Territory Air Service. Love the reaction, I'm also Aussie and love your Aussie content.

I believe the first time Peter Allen performed this song, was at a Royal Charity Concert in 1980 at the Sydney Opera House before the Queen and Prince Philip. Also on stage that night was Olivia Newton John singing Don't Cry For Me Argentina and John Farnham debuting his version of Help, which you have already reacted to.

Before it was a commercial, it was a song by Peter Allen and it should absolutely be our national anthem.

All the celebrities and choir are exquisite, iconic song/ad, representing life, land people. QANTAS stands for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services which was born in a small place called Longreach in the red outback of Queensland, go figure, one of the safest airlines in the world. A special mention to a first nations AFL player Adam Goodes at Bondi Swimming sea pool. I think this song is so special because so many Aussies relate to the unique images and song, and plus we love to travel (in general).

1985: I was a member of the Australian Rosny Children’s Choir - we did a 21 day tour of New Zealand & on the day that we were due to fly home, our plane broke down- the director made the choice, rather than have 50 kids aged between 8-18 return to Australia on separate flights, that we would stay overnight at a hotel & fly home a day late - when we arrived back in Australia & got through customs, Mrs Filby had us all stand there and sing this in the middle of the airport- very emotional all around - I often wonder if this was the inspiration for the QANTAS ad!
