Before a nerf patch the BTD-1 could've carried a more varied load-out of bombs (and as far as I recall) you could've carried 6x 500lbs bombs. And some others, then gaijin taketh away.

I can not expresshow long I have waited for someone to do a review of the BTD-1 that isnt just "This is good, use me referal code. give me money." because you, mr tankenstien, actually go in depth

This thing was my very 1st premium way back in the day and i ground out a lot of the WW2 era stuff with it for US. Its had some up and downs but its not bad for what it is.

Until I finally broke down and bought the Wyvern, the BTD-1 was my go-to event grinder . Dive on a base and blow it up with the magnetic mines, then turn back and ground pound on my way back towards friendlies. Or, if the enemies are already too close, turn up into them and take as many of as I can before getting killed. Roughly 1500 score in just over 3 minutes. Not always pretty, but fairly quick way to grind. I do the same with the Wyvern, but it's better at hammering enemy planes and making it back to friendlies.

I miss when it carried bigger bombs. I like it but 4.0 is a bit high for what it is. Especially with how bad the engine performance is.

Thanks for our insights to this plane. It was one of my first premium planes and I grinded a good amount of the tree with it. My experiences are much like you said. In air RB I tried to bomb a base with the mines and in a good match I could survive long enough to might even get a lucky kill or two. In ground RB the 20s are decent and the mines hit hard. I tried it with torpedos once in a naval battle without any success. At least the torps can be dropped from high speeds and altitude. I like it's air brakes even at high speed, but the plane wiggles kinda hard when at lower speeds. Overall I don't regret bying it.

Yes get this plane. Cheap repair and good RP/SL maker. Can reach speeds of 550 MPH in a dive. Great base killer.

I like the energy retention so if you could your speed up after bombing you can return to the airfield without much problems, too bad it lacks a bomb sight, I bombed my propeller while trying to bomb from a higher altitude, but the thing I hate the most about this aircraft is that it keeps oscillating when diving. Its way better than the helldiver

Yes I bought it for naval battles, when ships were added, do to u can take a fighter and 1 bomber/attacker in your preset. And back than there was no better option if u wanted a rank 3 (for tasks) bomber/attacker that can do it all against ships, and has a relatively low BR (the PBJ has limited load options + no torpedo, the B-26 came much later, and the ex rank 3 SB2Cs were trash, just like in real life).

You forgot the busted AF rudder which causes it to want to rock back and forth constantly. Its so "fun" to have a bird that literally cannot fly in a straight line without full instructor controls enabled.

no aircraft is perfect but the BTD is very good at daily tasks requiring a bomber kill ground targets. The mines are less than good against any targets not naked children in a field. no shrapnel. "accept that you will die and attack anyway" if you wanted to survive what are you doing in a bomber? Don't fight the oscillation, enjoy the 800kmh dive at 30 degrees and use dive breaks to bring her back under control before bomb release at 600kmh. fighting the oscillation makes it worse and the BTD is still going straight. i really dislike the BTD as it is slow, a big target, doesn't get lots of secondary ordinance to make up for it, has bad flight performance and only has 2x20mm where most planes at this br at least have 2xlmgs as well if not 4x20mm or a mixture of cannon sizes

Literally an overnerfed version of Wyvern, can't destroy a single base in uptiers.

I've used it in my America 4.0 GRB, it's miserable. P61 is all around significantly better. BTD easily compresses when it has the internal bomb load plus locking up at high speed means it pancakes very easily. So you're in an awkward spot using the external bombs with internal bombs - you line up to drop the tiny external bombs, but if you don't also drop the internal bombs, you've got to be moving fast and dropping from a low altitude and this is the worst spot for this aircraft to be in. So then you decide to use the air breaks - now you lose ALL your energy and the weak engine won't help you climb up again. Best to drop the external bombs with one of the internal bombs - but in every way, the P61 gets more bombs, more 20mm cannons, defensive guns, more energy.
