In this episode we show you how to harvest and cook a fresh caught catfish in order to use get the most out of the fish as possible including the organs, and even the swim bladder. We cook fish using primitive techniques that keep the skin on the fish and we cook it right on the hot coals. We add wild onion to our left over meals to stretch out our calories.
Unlike Naked and Afraid, ALONE, or Survivorman, there is no limit to the tools we are allowed to use. Living off just WILD foods is harder than you think!
In this episode we set live traps for nuisance and fur bearing mammals which are legal in Texas including possum, raccoon, rabbit, skunk, armadillo, feral hogs, javelina, badger, fox, porcupine, bobcat, coyote, gopher, ring tailed cat, soft shelled turtle, red eared slider, rattle snake, water snake.
We hunt FERAL hog too!
We fish for catfish, alligator gar, long nose gar and drum, crawfish, crawdads, or yabbies, ghost shrimp, bluegill, rio grande perch, armored catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, alligator, freshwater clams, leopard Frog.
All wild foods are on the menu!
We seek out wild edibles including prickly pear cactus pads or nopal, cactus fruit or tuna, wild onions, mulberries, wild grape, Texas persimmons, pecan and anacua, mulberry, tasajillo, turks cap, yucca pods, cats briar, oion, chili pequin, duck weed, ground cherries, desert hackberry.

Many who have never been in this situation don't realize how much a person begins to crave fat and carbohydrates after a week or so of eating wild game with a limited amount of fat. Even the wild pigs have surprisingly little fat. Humans are omnivores. That doesn't just mean we can choose to eat vegetable matter, it means our systems actually require the carbs and sugars found only in plants. After being in the woods for nearly a month eating fish and river muscles, and an occasional dove, when I got home all I wanted to eat for several days was green beans and bowls and bowls of rice ... and carrots - I couldn't eat enough carrots and I'm usually pretty neutral about carrots. The interesting thing about all of this is the cravings. Our bodies have a separate mind of their own, and communicate their dietary needs to us by way of these cravings. It's not just about calories. If your diet consists mostly of lean protein your body will begin to pass a large portion of it, unused, indicated by a stool the consistency of river mud. This means you aren't actually using all the calories available in the meat. One trick is to watch the pigs and where they go to "root" around in the dirt. Pigs are experts at finding tubers and other sources of carbs hidden under the dirt.

im huge fan of your channel and watched alot of your videos and the first two seasons more than once. but this season does not feel like a series at all. its more like a random videos of eatings. idk why. maybe because of too much editings. maybe because of there is no sense of morning evening nights. no camp. or a little maybe because you and jer were old friends, there was very good chemistry between the two of you. anyway im not trying to complain. im watching all these videos fully and liking them. just saying my opinion.

I'm late to this party but loving it. Grew up peeling catfish but now just scrape the slime off. Similar but easier than scaling a crappie. Eat the skin or not after cooking.

This entire thing is making me really, really hungry. I grew up in wild caught game, and for me the smell of Christmas it the smell of homemade venison jerky, smoked pheasant and a wild turkey in the oven. I know you guys are doing a challenge to not lose weight but if I keep watching this I'm gonna gain weight, because I really am getting so dang hungry seeing all of this game you're catching!
