Күн бұрынWhile 1947 marked India's liberation from colonial rule, it also witnessed the division of vast lands belonging to various communities, resulting in the LARGEST HUMAN MIGRATION EVER RECORDED IN HISTORY! More than 18 million people were displaced. The Radcliffe Line, drawn to demarcate boundaries, divided Punjab and Bengal, turning many into refugees in their own homeland. On August 15, 1947, countless individuals left their ancestral lands in search of a new home, crossing newly formed international borders.
People from both India and Pakistan hurriedly crossed borders without packing their entire lives, aiming to join their religious communities in lands they believed would be safer for them.
This video aims to document some of these stories, focusing specifically on Punjabis.

hi niharika....great vids...very moving oral histories.which may soon be lost....could you make a vid on the jallianwala bagh museum and the partition museum....my mother today 91+ yrs aged, left Pabna erstwhile undivided Bengal now in Bangladesh they had ample early warning and fled to India leaving all they had , in 1946 itself.....till today my mother tells us about the partition of Bengal.....she turns watery eyed whenever i show her KZfaq vids of Pabna......

Nice program that Mata ji who was born in Lahore she can be my guest if she wanted to come I am Lahori whose parents were born in Amritsar Father was born in Chharhta grand father was Sarpunch of village where majority were Hindus my family kept good relations with Hindu neighbors of Amritsar till 1965 ........Love you all

My mother father us time 7 yers tha or chandpur mei reheta tha chandpur(Now Bangladesh )Tripura state ka plean area tha or noakhali ke pass mei tha mere mother father ka village ka nam tha nurpur or un sabko attack honeke pehela sab kuch chorkar night mei palayan karna para karib 30+ hindu the unone pehele train sei chandpur sodorghat pei aya uske bad Dakatiya river mei lonch sei Faridpur (now Bangladesh) aye or oha sei train sei nadia district par karke Calcutta ka sealdah station pei aye or ak cump mei mera mummy bua ka husband ko ph kiya or unlogoko lene aye but unko news mila Sealdah to budge budge line mei akra , sontoshpur, mitiyaburuz ( Muslim majority station) oha pe jo train ja raha tha ohape train rokkar hindu o ko nikalkar mur*der kar raha tha fir unko lene mera mother ka bua ka husband lene aya jo batanagar are mei kam karte thr fir unone dusre rasto sei safe area mei le lar aya 😢

Indians who visit Pakistan says Pakistani are quite friendly people they welcome Indians with open arms they love Indians Indian movies songs then they will accept their own people who fled during partition. These ppl should try living in pak at least. These people should not have left their motherland in the first place conversion to islam was their one best option but these choose leave their motherland.... They still have this conversion option.
