Well, they didn't make the whole the ice cream itself from plastic, just the flavouring agent - vanillin. This process of breaking down PET into more usable compounds can result in plastic waste being turned into cosmetics or even medicine! What do you think? Would you eat/consume plastic-based products?

well very good that they found a way to this huge plastic mess humans made. but again i will go for natural ice cream found in nature instead of made in pharma industry. i still love true method of plastic made bricks to make roads etc.

Yeah, vanillin is just one possibility. They're exploring many more products out of this method.

The sad part is that if this is approved, and made in enough quantities, it will take away income from those who produce vanilla from orchids that are most often grown in very poor nations such as Madagascar & Jamaica.

This is kind of dangerous tho. I mean bacteria will turn almost all compounds from plastics but there will be leftovers,microplastics so the processes needs to be regulated properly.And analysed properly.

I agree that microplastics are dangerous. But the leftovers here would probably not be functionally "plastic" anymore. More testing is definitely needed, but it's promising.

@@TheHopelessGeek Doesnt matter if they are not functionally plastic anymore those compounds also needs to be tested for health reasons and aproved for human consumption. If this wasnt for human consumption it wouldnt cause this much of issue.
