They robbed my Dad's policy so bad that there was not a dime left out of the burial policy to purchase a grave marker. His policy was valued at $15,000. They bled me out so bad over the money. And ...I rented the casket , he was cremated . The casket was not burnt . It got re used. But they still got every dime. I couldn't even get him a grave marker. I hate funeral directors. They are thieves . Money hungry monsters.

Y’all really need to look into BF CAVE FUNERAL HOME. Cause he’s nothing like MICHAEL CAVE was and I know that for a fact. That’s why it’s bf cave cause the new owner last name is cave as well but he’s not like Michael cave. That funeral home been around since the founder of that funeral was alive at the time. My uncles use too play with J Hines when he had his group formed they were called J Hines and The Boys

I used to work in a funeral directors. One man that had passed away was very disabled so had died contorted and he couldn’t be straightened to fit in to his coffin. Bones had to be broken to fit him into a coffin for his height. That wasn’t ‘mutilating’ the deceased or in anyway disrespectful, it was just something that needed to be done. More often than not families don’t want to know about such things and sometimes it’s better for them not to know the practicalities because of the distress it might cause them. I wouldn’t for example have told people what happened during a cremation unless they asked and even then you don’t tell them everything because they wouldn’t be able to comprehend the process so it’s kinder. I agree though that it’s a different thing cutting his legs off. Thankfully though things like this rarely happen now, mainly because they can’t afford to be sued. So many people have jumped on the ‘where there’s blame, there’s a claim’ wagon in this day and age.

@@ruthe71 I heard of those things as well but I’m glad in our situation the funeral director had sense enough to contact my aunt to let her know what was possible but turned into something that wasn’t stressful. In this story was careless and disrespectful. The funeral director should of accommodated the family more professionally.

@@ruthe71 Yeah, but cutting a loved one's legs off shouldn’t be an option. They should’ve informed them that an oversized casket would have to be ordered. They should’ve been up front with the family about pricing and delays and communicated with them throughout the entire process. Instead they cut the man's legs and tried to hide it. In the end they took a loss.

My grandfather died with a massive hard on when it came to the funeral they had to balance a top hat on it not that many noticed. True story!

@Julie Goodrich yes. Exactly what you’ve just said. My younger brother who turns 30 in a couple of weeks was diagnosed with autism. Quite nicely compared to some others. So I could see In this chaps behaviour how he kept repeating and a bit flappy bless him. He was so fixated on what was right. I suppose a lot of people don’t think adults with autism. It’s more kids. Small towns don’t celebrate deaths like others. Tombstones are important but not as important in small towns. I lived in a small town. I can only speak for ppl of color. If in a small town they usually don’t have much and when they do get something the last thing to spend it on is something/someone that’s deceased.. I hope this helped ❤️❤️

Some are traditional and other are economical. Like the old saying, different stokes for different folks. Again thanks for the info.

@@sugarii4809 you are right but honestly it's not just people of color, it's because they're are ridiculously expensive. My husband (in profile pic) passed away a little over 2yrs ago, he arranged to have his body donated to science in the hopes that others wouldn't have to go through what he did but he knew they weren't going to try to research what caused his health to decline & the other reason was so that I wouldn't have to worry about any burial costs. One thing that always bothered prior to his passing was that his oldest sister, 1 of his brothers, his nephew, & his uncle didn't have headstones. Also, the top of his grandmother's vault was split & caving in basically bracing itself from falling in on her casket. I am actively trying to figure out how to make headstones & a new vault lid for his family members. I've watched KZfaq videos but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for because in order for them to have that shine you have to add lime to it; I have yet to find 1 that says how much or at what stage to do it. I can't give them anything fancy but I can honor him & them by giving them something nice for his other brother, sister, nieces, & great nephew something to visit. My husband was the youngest of 5 & there was 15yrs between him & his youngest sister.

Yeah that really bothers me too. It'd not right. He should have a beautiful head stone, especially if his widow received a settlement.

Unfortunately, all they have to do is change the name of the owners and business name on the deed and business license to reopen the funeral home. Sad but true. The same people could be working there but under a cousin's or other relatives name.

I remember that episode too. I was about 20. That was one of the episodes that featured a black cast, which made this story even creepier to me. If I remember correctly, the kid was a basketball player.

@@teribarker1021 it was a story of a young black boy that his parents had died. The last living kin was this guy that was funeral director. He really was a con artist and was pretty mean, didn't care about nobody but himself.. When the boy arrived, he didn't want him there so to cut the story short, the funeral director received or made a coffin that didn't fit somebody...so instead of sending it back, he killed the boy for no reason. The boy came back haunting him and killed him as well.

Oh, I'm sure he charged her for an extra long casket, but gave her a standard casket. When my brother in law died he required an extra large coffin & you can't get around that, but believe me, it cost my sister a lot of money!

I agree with you on the irony but it wasn't even his money to save. The wife would have been billed for the extra expenses. For all we know, he charged her a little extra than the standard burial and still did what he did to Mr Hines.

I know the funeral home asked if they could break my grandmother’s arms to get her to lay in the casket. Her neck was also stuck in a awkward position from lack of movement but they were able to pillow around her head to keep from breaking her neck. I guess it’s pretty common when people stop moving and (I can’t remember the med terminology for it) basically their tendons atrophy and freeze their joints in a position

She made her mind up To die after my grandpa died and just gave up completely. By the time she died she reminded me of a family friend who has cerebral palsy she was so “drawn up” for lack of a better term.

Everyone in that town would have known Pastor Hines. He would have left quite an impression and at almost 7 feet tall, he would have been hard not to notice. I say that with respect.

I used to live in Allendale and heard of this going on in the 80’s by this same funeral home.

Blindness and eye problems go along with albinism, unfortunately, and his pale skin would have been susceptible to melanoma. Now I’m thinking about all the tall guys I’ve known and hoping their legs don’t get cut off ultimately.
