Rainger FX just released the new Echo X, which is the world's first gated delay pedal! This Rainger FX pedal is an updated version of the original Echo-X from 10 years ago, and it now includes the GATE function, which is a solution to one of my biggest problems with delay pedals -- your mistakes repeating over and over again. When playing through the new Echo X, if you make a mistake, just muffle your strings and the gated delay will stop!
Thank you, Rainger FX, for sending me Echo X!

The jiji shirt!!! The gate is the reason why this may be the first one of their pedals I’d like to own at some point. The drum section where everything stopped together on time was such a great example and nice execution. Ya delays that keep the wrong notes that play on is something everyone can relate to but in art there are no mistakes only surprise Jazz!! ❤️

The delay pedal mistake shame is real. When you hit that one sour note and you can swear the pedal is slowly increasing the mix control on its own just so your failures and lack of foresight as a human being may ring in your ears. Long story short, good feature!

In my mind, the "not hearing your mistakes over and over" is probably the weakest use for the gate feature, since the sudden cut in delay will also be pretty obvious. But being able to cut delay for a drum cut is great, and I could see myself using that feature. Also, the functions of Igor is fabulous, and that alone does kinda make me want this pedal now...

You have a lot of fun experimenting with all these pedals, and we have fun when you do that, too, but honestly the pedals that sound best are the ones that let the natural beautiful tone of the harp itself shine through, clear and undistorted, but maybe accentuated with delay, reverb, or other time based effects. You start with a beautiful sound. Sometimes it's just RIGHT to let it BE beautiful.

Love this new gate feature, it makes the delay pedal feel more integrated into the playing experience, which I'm always for. Feel like this would be a great pedal for math/metal bands where the drummer will go off in the middle of a section so you could have a nice dreamy wash that just cuts off to make room for the boomy boom boom (I don't know drums). Rainger always gives their effects really interesting tools, and I think everyone's going to find their own way to use them. Undeniably the best mini pedals ever (besides the Verb Square, but you really need the sauce bag to make it work to it's full potential), purely because of the slight wedge and the top mounted jacks. I'd personally love to see and in-built LFO for more consistent modulation than Igor could provide but with everything else this pedal has, I can't really complain; plus really short repeats for doubling effect is more my "chorus" anyway. Also can we appreciate that even at this size, they have a preamp with an input control and most importantly, an indicator led so your preamp can say hello! or ouch! Anyway, chalk up another victory for Canadian delay pedals. Canadelays? (and nice Ghibli shirt!) If you had a MOOD and a Rainger Echo, You could set up so when you stop playing, your mistake disappears and the MOOD immediately starts playing something pleasant to erase all memories of The Bad Note.
