An Arsenal Gooner and Gunner who chose to continue his professional career with Chelsea. As painful as that was back then today it would probably be totally normal and expected? The player goes to progress their career either money or results or both. Looking back where Chelsea became a force and Arsenal went backwards into stagnation, he evidently did make the right choice. As he said, got his debut for his boyhood club then at the new club won Champions' League, the top of the pile in the game.

As an Arsenal fan I personronally feel like Ashely Cole was the best left back in the world at both clubs through different eras. Wenger and Mourinho respectively, and, whilst I am hurt by his disloyalty, I'm also man enough to understand it. He is easily the best LB in the league ever and would be my first and only LB in an England all stars 11

I apologise for calling him Cashley and traitor. We didn't know then that it was David Dein and the Arsenal board that didn't pay Cole what he was worth. He was easier a key member of that Invincibles team and should have been paid as such.

He was a very good player but a person with no integrity! He betrayed Rio and Anton Ferdinand in the latter's tribunal/court case against John Terry for racially abused him. Ashley (or Cashley, as we prefer to call him) testified on John's behalf claiming he did not commit the offence, which later found to be untrue. He seems to have supported John Terry seemingly fearing the repercussions of testifying against his Chelsea teammate. It seems he believed standing for the truth was not worth the repercussions! Reportedly, his relationship with the two brothers has, as a result, soured and presently non-existent. Not surprisingly, John Terry was ultimately found guilty of racially abusing Anton.
