Elvis will ALWAYS be remembered. He is literally the King of Rock n Roll. You see him moving there in that early video. Before Elvis, people stood on stage and sang little songs. Elvis came out the womb bursting with talent and a rock n roll spirit. They wanted to arrest him for how he moved on stages. There were protests to get him off TV. They would only shoot him from the waist up. so on. Elvis changed music forever. Keith Richards of the The Rolling Stones said she he heard Heartbreak Hotel, one of Elvis's first hits, the world went from black and white to technicolor. As much as you are digging the King, please look at some documentaries about him. You need to know the history. You'll love it. Love your reactions!!! There are few good videos about Elvis's whole life on KZfaq, I think one is called Elvis the Searcher, and the other Elvis by the Presleys. That last one his family put together. I haven't seen them in awhile, but man, got to get onto the history of Elvis. He was never just another performer. He was like from another planets, for real.

When Elvis was on TV for the First time after seeing how he moved his Hips & body they refused to show below his waist. To vulger the Adults said. You need to find his older video's of him just jamming with all the Black Jass Players, it is something else Elvis was truly the King. Handsome and his voice was totally awesome so beautiful. You need to also listen to him sing Amazing Grace.

That was back in the 50's with the parents and some dj's complaining. On the Ed Sullivan Show, he was filmed from the waist up. He could sing any genre. He loved gospel the best. He showed loved to everyone. He was very giving. He didn't see color.

I was ten. My mum was a huge fan. She was in hospital. My brother and little sister walked 5 miles that day in 1977 to tell her the news. The King is Dead. But Mummy he lives through us and you. Don’t cry.

Unfortunately, this time period was a segregated world! Its awful! Elvis was born very very poor! He was a twin that died at birth. They had to bury Jesse in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. He was only 1 of 4 white families living in a prominently black neighborhood. His neighbors helped his family. He grew up very religious in black churches. He was shunned for being vulgar because his body moved with the music and nobody had done that!! He opened the doors for music/musicians when it was frowned upon. He wanted the world to stop hating!!! Thanks to you, his name, music and memory will live on...TCB ⚡🤘

Elvis was extreamily controversal. About no one moved when singing and when he did, he was judged for being sexual. This was a time the word pregnant wasn’t allowed to be said on TV. He got the nickname Elvis the Pelvis and all sorts of names. Devil boy etc. He risked jail for his performance, got filmed only from the waist up at times and he got drafted into the army for 2 years. Many wanted the army to «clean his act up». He brought on new culture, from his upbringing in the black community with gospel, rythme and blues, and his impact on music lives on today. Things evolved into a room of more freedom. Elvis was the first ever super celebrity. He could not go anywhere. He had to rent out restaurants and cinemas to even go there. He got chased around everywhere he went, so with time he only went out at night and still had to rent out places. Outside of his house there was always fans waiting and he spent time with them almost everyday because of how grateful he was and he loved his fans. I don’t think his kind of fame has ever been topped. This was a time without internet and the whole world new about him.

It was the time. Rock n roll didn’t exists until he and others started it in the late 50s. His dancing freaked conservatives out big time. Teens loved him

Elvis worried that no one would remember him after he died and his significance to history really can't be overstated. The entire world stood still when he died, the President released an official statement to comfort a nation in mourning, and 45 years later, thousands still flock to Graceland to mark the anniversary with a candlelight vigil. The list of famous visitors includes people like Paul McCartney to Prince William, the future king of England had one request when visiting the USA... he wanted to see Graceland. I doubt Elvis would have believed that if someone had told him that his fanbase just gets bigger and bigger.

Not only was Elvis so nice, his entire family was. His Uncle Vester treated me great when I was at Graceland, and I am just a regular guy that he just met. He allowed me on the property for two weeks inside the guard shack with him. He was Elvis’ father’s brother .

Most people don't realize (or don't wanna admit) that Elvis had black bloodlines through his native Melungeon Indian roots. His great grandmother was a Indian princess. Elvis himself referred to being International because of his multicultural DNA. Unfortunately the world labeled him a white man while black people label him to this day as a racist who stole black culture despite his roots being mixed. Elvis even told his black cook "the good Lord made a mistake when he didn't make me black". He called black people his people.

Elvis grew up in extreme poverty and spent his youth in the black churches. Because of that he spent his life giving to others less fortunate. He spent his whole life giving people cars, houses, jewelery and hundreds of charities. Famous Elvis quote "If the fans rip the shirt off my back they can have it. They put it there" He never cared about the fame or money he just wanted to sing and make people happy. You enjoyed that clip of him dancing, that was from his appearance on the Milton Berle show in 56. You should check that out, Hound Dog on the Milton Berle show. See what i meant on one of my comments i wrote on a reaction you did. Elvis had threatened the country, and so an effort was made to try and control him and to destroy him. This is why in one of his performance, the waist up one, he seemed uneasy and had to control his movement. He wasn't himself and he hated that they were trying to stop him. In fact, it went as high and up to the United States Govt when they called him to serve for two years in the army from 1958 to 1960. They basically pulled the plug at his highest peak of his career. Anyone else would have been completely destroyed, but Elvis came back nicely and even returned bigger than ever in the 1968 Elvis Comeback Special.

People liked to put out there he was racist! Now you know he wasn't! In that time the black people got no respect of any kind! ELVIS hated that because he loved everybody! People were very conservative then and he scared the white people with the way he performed! The young people loved him. He took off and nobody could stop him! The rest is history!! THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER EVER AND EVER AND FINALLY LOVED BY ALL ALL OVER THE WORLD!!!

This documentary must have been made in 1997 because they said 40 years ago Elvis brought his record to the radio station. Jailhouse Rock was released in 1957.

New older subscriber here! The middle-aged & older whites hated Elvis because he was influenced by Black artists, so they considered it "colored" music. They thought Elvis' rock and roll was dirty because of the physical moves he made, sexy. One of his nicknames was "Elvis the Pelvis" because he moved it. Before rock, white audiences and performers were pretty uptight, very non-sexual. When some of our parents saw us dancing to rock n roll, shaking our hips and shoulders, etc., they thought it was horrible and immoral. If they saw performers dance today they'd freak! Anyway, the older white people who hated Elvis because they were (a) racist and/or (b) uptight and easily shocked.

Eddie Murphy said that when Elvis was on the movie screen, no matter what was happening, every eye was on Elvis; and Eddie Murphy said he wanted to be like that. Stars said they would be at a giant gala with hundreds of people, and if Elvis entered, the whole feeling changed, and you knew Elvis must have entered the place without even knowing Elvis was there!!

Every year in Australia, in a town called Parkes, they have an annual Elvis festival with a different theme, based on any one of 33 of his movies from late 50s and during the 60s. People come from all over Australia and overseas, just to dress up and enjoy and relive his life. It's a Big Deal. He's loved to this day. This year it was the movie Speedway. It was magical and my first time at the event which goes for 5 days. Trust me, he lives on in our hearts, all over the world. Rip Elvis x

It shows that it was not easy for Elvis at all, he grew up dirt poor because of that he was surrounded by all kinds of music country, the blues, gospel is somehow or another heard a different sound and put it all together in his own way and took on everybody most kindness way by not changing and sticking to his guns this is what made Elvis great he did not see color at all only music thank you for your reaction

His musical influences was older bluesmen in his small Mississippi town and the black church pastors and choir music he experienced there. He grew up extremely poor. His twin brother died at birth

i agree with you on all points except one he was not a saint he was human. He would not have liked that and this is why. there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and i understood him we cared about each other faults and all. Elvis knew he messed up nobody knew that more than he did he accepted and owned what he did to his body all the prescription drugs he abused he couldn't beat them his body failed him but his voice never did. What it comes down to is we both needed a friend and we were that for each other. Awesome reaction. i have spent my entire adult life speaking out to people that try and judge a beautiful soul that is not here to defend himself. as long as i have breath in my lungs no one i mean no one will disrespect him period. Elvis was born in tupelo Mississippi and he was brought up with black people and going to a black church that's how he learned to sing the way he did. The moving and dancing that he did to his songs was just something that was in him he didn't do it on purpose it just came out that way and that's what everybody really liked about him but also what the people didn't like about it. Elvis didn't think he was doing anything vulgar he was only 25 26 years old and he just didn't understand why everybody hated what he did, to him it was just natural.

Elvis was a little kid (like 6 years old on) and he would go to black churches bc he lived in a area of mostly black people. He was embraced by the black community as a little kid. They say he would just dance and sing when he was at church. He loved it. You can't be mad a 6 year old boy that doesn't see color and embraces and loves the music and dancing of the black community. I think it's a compliment to the black community. I'm proud that Elvis made a difference by supporting the black community in the south at a time when a lot of the white community were uneducated idiots.

I agree with Rufus Thomas & BB King, but I DISAGREE with Little Richard and the Rapper guy are incorrect. Elvis was not a copycat, and he did not just sing R&B. From his first recordings in 1953 & 54, he did Country Music, Ballads, Pop, Bluegrass, along with R&B. Any R&B he did in that time was a "cover" which means to record it AFTER the original R&B artist already had their own hit with it. When elvis covered any songs, he was REQUIRED to pay royalties to the original song writers. He paid his own way.

You have to put the start of this video into the context of the ultra conservative time period we lived in, especially in the south. Unfortunately this was a common occurrence and even led to his third performance on Ed Sullivan's show being filmed from the waist up. Elvis never saw color, he saw people. This is very good look at who he really was.
