@@notsevenfeettall It went downhill when Dover Corporation bought Warn Industries in 2017. As soon as it was a publicly traded company running the show it became about profits and shareholders and nothing to do about quality assurance -- this is what happens in every industry (hardware through electronics) when a great company is bought by a publicly traded one. Commenting on this acquisition, Dover's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas L. Reece said: "This transaction is consistent with our long term strategy of acquiring market leaders with a history of outstanding financial performance. Warn's strong brand name, intellectual property and broad product offering combine to create an outstanding company and an exciting addition to Dover. The strength of Warn's management team was also a critical factor in our decision. Under their leadership, we expect Warn to continue to generate significant growth and profitability for the benefit of Dover's shareholders." Profitability for the benefit of the shareholders means the customers invariably take it up the ass without so much as a polite introduction. Never mind wining and dining.

8409.09 miles of fiber in a 30 (37ft) Yankum rope (of whichever diameter rope you gave the numbers for). The Earth is 24,859.734 Miles at the Poles or 24,901.461 at the Equator. So that rope broken down to single fibers, end to end, it would take 2.956 (3 rounding up) ropes to make it around the Earth at the Equator. Was great to see the Yankum factory and Awesome to see the truck make the trip.

So the earth is approximately 7,917.5 miles diameter from pole to pole. So if you could drill a hole through the earth, one 30’ rope would stretch all the way through and still have enough left to pull your wrecker from home all the way to the wrecker games :-)

Quality of materials and quality control. Better materials gives more longevity. I always say, tools don't fail while they are in the tool box, they fail while you're using them and need them. Do you want a tool that will fail while you're using it? Imagine being stuck someplace and your rope fails because it was cheap. Now you're stuck with a cheap broken rope.

To think that double braided nylon ropes were created under a patent back in 1959 by Samson Rope Company. Have used those type of ropes to tie up military or I should say government vessels, 600 ft long with 12 ft eye each end.10 " in diameter 30 lbs per foot as mooring lines as a merchant sailor. Been splicing eyes in the rope used on my boats since age 16. Have fids for everything from 1/4 in to 1 in and the splicing manuals. Was nice to see the inside of the factory.

Ben is 100% correct about the Yankum Rope factory. Too many factories have automated everything. Folks loose their job for an inferior product being made at the same or higher price. A factory I worked at did this, laying off me and many more hard working people. They lasted 3 years because the product was greatly inferior-machines can't see a problem with the product. Thank you Yankum for allowing Casey a tour, I really enjoyed seeing how they are made. Mind boggling! The shop is so clean! And you actually have heaters that warm! Wish we could go to the Wrecker games, my husband can't get off due to staff shortage but we'll certainly enjoy all of the videos that everyone will post afterwards. when i worked on the paper machine we used ropes to help feed the paper lead though the dryers to the back of the machine to the reel where we had another section of rope , we would have to spice the ropes together , as long as there is a load on the splice in the rope it stays tight seeing the work that they do for the weaving of their ropes brought back the memory of working on the paper machine , now days the paper is feed through the machine by pressurized air on guides .

Quite a few jobs done by people were converted to being done by robots over the years.

It was great for Allen to show you/us how the ropes are actually made and what goes into the making of each rope and how much manual labour is still entailed in the making of the rops which is great for manufacturing and the families attached.. and as Ben stated, more companies not only in USA are too quick to go automated without even consideration of the impact on families and others that do the work to make any items these days... good on Allen for keeping families employed.. I hope you all have a blast at the Off Road Wrecker Games which are on now.. .today being march 9th here in Melbourne Australia.. Hello guys; the tool Sleeping Beauty princess pricked her finger on is called a "drop spindle". It's been used since ancient times to twist the fibers together and then the fibers can go on to a spinning wheel; spun into a skein and then used to weave or braid the fiber into a product. For cloth a loom is used & for a tightly braided rope the machinery you showed us at Yankum Rope.

I loved the whole Yankum Ropes segment. Alan in no way comes across as the CEO of an aspiring company. He is unassuming, funny, and you'd be pleased to have him as a friend. I've seen one of their HUGE ropes on the Millennial Farmer channel, and seen it used to unstick BIG tractors and farm implements from muddy quagmires. I have to say though, that I don't think I have seen Zach make use of the rope's dynamic feature, and I have even asked why in the comments. He says that he knows that's how the ropes work best, but if he pulled that hard, he'd tear whatever he was attached to right off. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbihisiemMvFnKM.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pLiBqtKFrcDRXYU.html

There are many cities that are 8409 miles away from Burley, Idaho, as this distance would cover almost half the circumference of the Earth. The specific city that is 8409 miles away would depend on the direction you travel from Burley. To give you an idea, if you were to travel 8409 miles to the east of Burley, you would end up in the city of Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta), in the state of West Bengal, India. On the other hand, if you were to travel 8409 miles to the west of Burley, you would end up in the city of Perth, in Western Australia. {courtesy of Chat GPT}

Hey Chap GPT, it is greater than the diameter of the Earth. See how short and snappy that is? Follow me for more of how to human.

This is a great commercial for Yankem. I wish I could afford a proper rope. Perhaps as soon as I find a buyer for a spare kidney.... na seriously, I'd love to have one, but I have a daughter's wedding asking for all of my play money this year.
