In case you don't know the mom is speaking in Spanish. And the one girl always speaks in English. But the dubbed were the actors themselves. So it is not as weird

So know, yeah I got same idea as heard people say young royals is more real and isn't a fantasy would like heartstopper and apparently why most recommend to always at least watch young royals instead of heartstopper

I want to recommend a Swedish movie called ONDSKAN (The Evil, 2003). Also set in upper class boarding school, based on an autobiography. You’ll see a very young Floki from ”Vikings” in it 🙂 Hope you’ll watch more scandinavian movies and shows, they are a bit different than what you are used to I guess but I think you’ll enjoy it!

Exactly the first time I started watching the show i completely freaked out and didn't even wait to see the scene just screamed and turned it off only 5 months later was able to go back and try watch the show again I was like at least now I know when to be ready to skip the scene, but the remote didn't work I juts shit my eyes, i have big disgust about germs and saliva, humans liquids in general freak me out, even in this reaction video i skipped but the show is great I'm glad I did go back to it 😂

Hey, just in case you guys didn't know, the actor who plays Simon is actually also a singer and was in a popular boyband named FO&O. He's Venezuelan - Swedish, and this was actually his first acting gig. Fun fact: FO&O were the openers for Justin Biebers' concert he had in Sweden back in 2013. Edvin, the actor who plays Wilhelm, was actually at that concert as a fan.

Swede here 😊 Ketchup on pasta is pretty common in Sweden - perhaps not in nice restaurants but like at home, for like a quicker dinner, more casual. Also, when August calls Simon a socialist, he's referring to Social democrats which are the biggest political party in Sweden - it's used by upper class people as like a class slur, so he's basically saying Simon is poor. Love your reaction, can't wait for the rest!

One thing you miss in this show through the language barrier is that at home Simon and his mother speak Spanish, but Sara only speaks in Swedish, which makes sense as the series goes on

@@Lilithly idk Felice isn't like, insanely popular by any measure just well liked but she's also part of the rich elite and only speaks Swedish (+neurotypical if we wanna compare her to Sarah). I definitely agree that it's less of an issue than the other factors but it did get brought up in the newest season and all the first year girls just kinda hang out with each other

August is Wilhelm’s second cousin. August’s father and Wilhelm’s mother were cousins. So August is part of the royal family but doesn’t have a title and his children wouldn’t have titles. (My understanding of the royal family.) August is layered and complicated, not just a two dimensional a-hole. Maddie is from the U.S. She understands Swedish and can speak it, but she feels self-conscious so she doesn’t.

May have been mentioned before, but with over 100 comments within 2 hrs…: ‘Non-res’ means non-resident. Hillerska being a boarding school, the non-res are locals allowed to attend (with a government grant) because of their outstanding grades (in some countries private schools are forced to accept local students who have high grades). That’s Simon and Sara. Sara is 1 yr older but she had to do one grade twice because of bullying. Therefore they end up in the same grade in high school.

Well they can’t charge tuition, so anyone who meets the entry requirements can go to any school they want. The school can charge a lot for boarding and that sort of thing, which is how they keep it exclusive. But since they live locally, they can avoid all the expensive fees

Yesss I’m so excited for this!!! This is one of my favorite shows. Hillerska is a “riksinternat” so all the kids are from old money upper class families. You might not know if you’ve never seen shows set in normal Swedish schools but Hillerska is WAY more traditional so it’s a culture shock for Wilhelm too. I think that’s why he gravitates toward Simon because he didn’t grow up going to this kind of school either.

not really depicted in this episode yet but this show is so accurate to me how it feels to have a crush at school and it makes you actually want to go and you're just pushing through the day for the chance to talk to them for even a minute😭💗 that was me with my hallway crush that turned into my partner of over a year and counting

Just a note, that if you don’t like reading subtitles the dubbed version is really good ‘cause most of the Swedish cast speak English and were able to dub themselves. But it is fun to hear it in Swedish.

Non-res is non-residential. The people who can't afford to board at the school, so they live at home. They're viewed as poor so people equate poor to drug dealers.

I swear Ben from heartstopper and August from Young Royals are the same characters-different shows, just incredibly annoying, angering and fans wish the worst on them but they are both so well executed by their actors. 😅

@@Raider714 One thing that I love about YR is how complex the characters are. There’s no “good guys” and “bad guys”, just people who make good choices or bad choices. Much more realistic. I don’t hate anyone in the show. Though Vincent is pretty annoying… 😉
