he was partly right. there are no 'aliens' nor is there 'outer space'. there are only fallen angels, trapped with us under the impenetrable dome. outside the dome is water, not 'space'. we live on a plane. the sun, moon and stars are very small and very near.

"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum." Fun Fact: Roddy Piper, being a married man at the time of filming, refused to take his wedding band off. That's why in several scenes you can see a wedding ring. They Bubblegum Fact: The "bubblegum" line was (sorta) ad-libbed by Roddy Piper. According to director John Carpenter, Piper had previously written the line in his notebook of potential verbal bits during his wrestling career. He shared the notebook with Carpenter, and they agreed that this particular line fit the character and the film perfectly. Piper went on to use it at a wrestling match. They Fight Fact: The big fight sequence was designed, rehearsed and choreographed in the back-yard of director John Carpenter's production office. The fight between Nada (Roddy Piper) and Frank (Keith David) was only supposed to last twenty seconds, but Piper and David decided to fight it out for real, only faking the hits to the face and groin. They rehearsed the fight for three weeks. Carpenter was so impressed he kept the scene intact, which runs five minutes, twenty seconds.

Actually the fight goes for 7 and half minutes. It was actually supposed to be 5 minutes longer but they trimmed it down. Carpenter wanted the longest fight scene in cinema history. It took 3 days to film. Piper did get hurt because he did most of the stunts. When he fell out the window he jammed his neck.

The fight scene in this is legendary. Since you're into video games, if you haven't played it check out Saints Row IV. It's utterly ridiculously over the top, and loads of fun. Keith David plays himself as the vice president of the United States, and there's a whole sequence where Roddy Piper (voicing himself) shows up as an allied NPC in a scene that is a direct reference to this movie.

_What's the matter baby?_ The sun glasses and the line about bubble gum, was later used in the video game series, Duke Nukem. Where you're battling aliens and have sarcastic one liners. The film though is about greed, and how people can be so easily swayed, even against their own self interests if money and power is involved. The one homeless guy that was at the camp and then later wearing a tuxedo, pretty much explains it all. "People sell out every day, might as well be on the winning team." Roddy Piper is a fellow Canadian. A few times in the film you can hear the pronunciation of certain words. He was known as a very kind and generous guy, he was pretty intimidating due to his size but it's not at all who he was. Just a really good guy and he really cared for his family too.

The alley fight was soo long because it represents the process of waking someone up. Also the number on the dumpster truck (295) is significant The numerology energy represented by the number 295 resonates with the idea of wisdom, intuition, and curiosity. It is a diplomatic energy, tending to fade into the background until action is warranted. When a person lives with number 295 energy, they are likely to be focused on learning about themself. There is also likely to be a sense of connection to ancient inner wisdom. Relationships are apt to be deemed important. There tends to be curiosity about life and an appreciation of adventure. Tolerance and compassion resonate within the energy the person lives with. 295 energy has a resonance of idealism in the sense that it concludes the best way for life to work and focuses on that. The energy represented by 295 also resonates with humanitarianism and tolerance. And expression of a personal sense of FREEDOM....

Lots of people watch this film and praise the concept, and the big FIGHT, but one of the more subtle performances is that of Meg Foster. Sure, her eyes (like those of Karen Black) are always noted (and are really highlighted in the film He-Man where she plays Evil Lyn) but she is a much better actress. The little movements of her eyes and body both conceal and reveal her character's character. She is almost as good as the late Great Bette Davis (see Of Human Bondage), and is by far the best performer in this show.

John Carpenter is pretty talented. In October you should watch his "Halloweeen" (1978). For such a low budget movie it redefined the slasher genre and he also did the (now iconic) music for that too. I'm personally not big on slasher films but it's a timeless classic. Again a good October movie. Thanks for making this and I look forward to more of your reactions!

3:29 Before the digital age, which included the internet, the majority of jobs available for Men were manual labour and skilled trades and if you didn't have the tools to match your skills then your chances of finding work were slim at best. Jobs at grocery stores, fast food chains, retail stores, etc, were often occupied by students and young people. In addition, employers wanted youthful employees because they were considered easier to train and impressionable when compared to adults.

Holly was always a collaborator with the enemy. Apart from the fact that she lived a luxurious lifestyle (based on her car and her home, whereby the movie draws a distinction between rich and poor), the fact that she had no problem committing cold-blooded murder of a fellow human being without any remorse whatsoever, is proof positive that she was always a traitor.

Great reaction even though you may call it a sci fi movie just think of this way the movie takes place after the Rapture and you see people that were left behind and that were not saved which then the reason you saw what looked like walking zombies were actually sinful people that were waiting for the judgement day after 7 years. This is the reason that the law enforcement went after the people in the safe houses for the ones that did ask the LORD and repented after the Rapture and those special glasses were to reveal the truth of what the world is like once you got saved just my thought's cause you saw from few years back with the violence in the streets either by law enforcement or by the bad people protesting over whatever they disagree about back then.

Um… I remember this move- did this movie have people walking on a street?… like they were wearing shirts and pants and some people wore skirts? Is that a thing? Wasn’t this movie where people had hair? Except the people who didn’t have hair.. is that a thing? We’re all the human characters breathing in oxygen and exhaling carbon monoxide? Is that a thing? Were people like walking around on their feet- like instead of walking on their hands? Is that a thing?😂 is that a thing?
