No prices will drop on retro games from these collections. Mega man X2&3 will never drop. Even x1 in physical form is more costly than the x collections.

Emulation has existed for years. Everdrives have as well. Rereleases aren't a new thing. You still gotta pawn a child if you want Musha, Snatchers, Persona 1 and 2 etc etc. People will always want the real deal and they ain't going anywhere

Good. I own so many games that are high in price and I get happy each time a new port comes out. These games shouldn't be so expensive in the first place! New generations get to play and people who missed them are going to be able to relive their memories!

technically there is 2 Klonoa remake/ports, one on the ps2 and one on the wii, the wii version is the easier one but its pretty much the 1st game only

Some of the prices will actuality go UP because it brings more attention to them and also introduces the retro to a new audience who can now potentiality collect it.

Emulation will be the only way for future generations of the youth to enjoy the best of the past without being upper middle class or middle. Hopefully one day video games will be treated like library books necessary but not the the highest importance of preservation.

As Iv commented before it really is a game by game basis, however modern ports can still soften prices a bit by taking away from of the demand from people who just wanna play the game and don’t care about having the original so more collectors can get copies

If prices dropped tomorrow I would get Guardian Heroes, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Zelda Windwaker.

The Playstation versions of those fighters will not go down at all. They are the worst versions of them available. Players already either play them on Saturn, arcade, or emulation. It's only Playstation collectors buying 2D fighters on that console, and those prices are driven by the collector value trying to complete sets, not from their being the only or best way to play them. I look at these Switch collections as for players who want to actually play what should be an arcade perfect port or emulation (who knows what input lag the Switch might introduce). PS1 Capcom fighters generally just aren't what people play. Collecting games as an investment in the modern era is a bad idea in general. You either will overpay or have to put in so much work that it's not a good way to spend money. If you bought these games 20-30 years ago, then yeah, you can make a tidy profit. It's way harder to be ahead of the curve these days.

I'm not sure why there's speculation about this... scarcity drives prices. A game like Klonoa only had about 200,000 copies in existence. So the re-release wouldn't affect the price of the original. Not all intellectual property behaves the same. Because there are so few clean copies of Klonoa in circulation. Not the case with the million copies sold of the Capcom fighters. But alas. Time will tell.

Don't think price will change tbh, Most now adays collect box art with game and play game on a ODE. But a steam game for collection would be nice to have too :)

Some games go down with collections but it’s only games that aren’t based on rarity. Especially since this is getting a physical I think these games will drop a bit.

Confirmed switch is getting a physical release of the marvel Capcom collection.

If you buy it digitally you can still play it even if they delist it, oh and I have a physical copy of klonoa that I got for 3 bucks at a yard sale I also got the misadventures of tron bonne for 200 last year

Thankfully one of the games im nostalgic for sonic unleashed is under 50$ on eBay, but Xbox 360 itself is like the Dreamcast never click on the new tab it's mostly 500+ which just ain't worth it. Ive been financially gated from that warmth of nostalgia.

Klonoa is on PS5 remastered. the same game as the PS1 version. It also has a physical.

The new collection is a perfect item to scalp because of licensing issues.

I've said this before, these games will take a dip, probably close to 30-40% like we've already seen it with other re-releases. They might go up afterwards, but a lot of the demand is based on people wanting to play them. Some rarer games will definitely maintain high prices in those situations.

I don’t think they will go down in price just because rereleasing for new platforms, because there are always gonna be differences with the original games, for example, the new MSH vs Street Fighter won’t have all the characters from the original, and so on, retro will always be the way to experience the original work, specially in this date and time.

All of these games are digital now. It's impacted a lot of prices. However, I am not concerned until we are like 10 years from now when it is literally all irrelevant just from being gone too long (everything Atari is cheap).

Prices do drop with re releases the amount of people who want it goes down it’s simple

Disney is bleeding money and so does Capcom. These compilations aim to make quick money without putting too much effort into it. Capcom is releasing it on PS4 & switch and not the newer gen console on purpose. They know this is where you can get the most profit since the majority of players are still playing on these two systems. It was done on purpose. In the global market, the majority are still on older systems. Perhaps Capcom aims to release this for the esport community. If Capcom really wants to make more money, release the Limited Edition, Collector edition and ultimate edition. I am sure people will pay $100, 200, or 300 for these compilations. When companies are desperate for cash, they will license whatever IP they have. Don't be surprised if we will see Lego + Capcom + Marvel team up to create the Lego Marvel vs Capcom release.

Your right there was a remake or remaster if you wanna call it that of Klonoa and Klonoa 2 on ps4. Its called Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series.

I remember buying radiant silver gun on the Sega Saturn in 2011. At the time it was the only way you could play it. Saturn emulation was not good, and good luck finding an arcade. It was like a week later it was announced it was getting an HD remake on the 360, and I thought I had just overpaid for this game. The price of the game did drop about 10%, but then went back and continues to go up today even after it released again on modern consoles. I'm speculating, that these marvel games will follow the same trend.

They'll drop in price initially but once players realise that the Switch ports have additional frames of input latency everything will go back to normalcy.

only the ps versions will imo, the dreamcast, saturn, and xbox versions will hold their value or shoot up.

I think the unique issue here is just how inferior the console version are. Some people won’t care but most people would rather spend 40$ for arcade perfect ports rather then 1000+ for all the worse console versions. Not every game is like this we’re the original versions are vastly different then the modern version but mvc definitely is.

I have all the marvel and vs games physical, I don't plan of selling so I hope they do drop in price for other collectors.. everyone has the roms of these games & it hasn't dropped in price in years. Just risen actually lol the games have been highly accessible for a decade

I don't own MvC2 for multiple consoles because I'm worried about the price. I can't even play me my Japanese DC version. Fans own these because they're fans.
