I play with randoms which most of the time is like playing solo. And the randoms I get are almost always one plates that I have to carry around.

There really isn't "loads of us". This video is a partial showcase as to why. The mode needs heavy changes still for it to be a consistently fun experience. The damage of snipers needs to be toned down drastically. You can say it's "skill" all you want but I have yet to get hit by a sniper that didn't leave me on 5% hp with a 3 plate. Every other time it's a down. Let's not pretend cheaters don't exist. Snipers can easily serve a purpose of zone control and plate fodder. This matters a lot in late extraction squad battles wether you want to accept that or not. Premades were gun swapping years of insurance loadouts so they never had to worry again about insurance. It's apparently patched now but I never see a fresh 1 plate with a free Vaznev now so it's obviously still likely everyone has decent guns. Speaking of fresh. Remove the garbage weapons from the free pool. It's not often a thing but spawning in with that trash 2 round I think Lockwood is almost an instant concede. So essentially it's never a factor until it is. What I mean by that is the sweats won't care if it's removed because it doesn't affect them and the newbies will benefit by having an actual serviceable gun to kill AI or a better way is to say they will NEVER have that 1 in 7 free round that is just an instant leave. This change affects almost nobody but removes the none games for new players. They need to remove the spotter scope. It's life saving for me but the power it offers a sniper premade is far more significant. It's near mandatory to spawn in with it and to loot smokes. That isn't a dynamic experience it's a constant and tedious one. The cash from missions needs to reward solo players more. Not by loads but enough to warrant solo risk and time. Instead of say 5 to 8k give 8 to 12k. This makes a trip to the trolley more rewarding for the increased risk and more time to do the missions. Solo parties should ALWAYS spawn with 3 plates in the pouch. If a sniper head shots you with aim bot with a 1 plate then fine it happens but it isn't regular. But with the reduced damage I recommend, a 2 plate and an option to TRY and escape a pin down now exists even if you spawn with a scope and didn't loot smokes. Those whinging can still engage, follow up and play PvP but maybe that's why they whinge because they want to play solitaire and not a skill based PvP exchange. They should also spawn solo players with a basic gas mask. It lowers the risk of the gas because solo missions take far longer. It allows them to use the gas to defend them in extractions. And finally AI needs to do significantly less damage or spawn less based on the spawn triggering solo player in places like strongholds and weapons stash. I counted about 50 (no lie) plated mobs on the west side of the airport near the stronghold..They just didn't stop spawning. We have all seen thisw videos thay have the AI spawn behind your back too. So again let's not pretend it's not a problem. As it stands 3 players do not suffer penalties of any kind and the "hard" pve content is a joke for 3. Even 3 bad players. These changes need some extra context too. People forget this is a mission based game mode that heavily favours camp squads who do not care about the missions but to annoy players. The insurance slots aren't really worth the effort to complete them but I enjoy the missions regardless and obviously others do too. The PvP aspect is nice, it's not overwhelming when it exists but as it stands now the majority of players have snipers and really play the game mode to do just that. These changes give everything either a niche or make options viable as opposed to the still stale solitaire experience. Also I know it doesn't make sense but allow players to land on the helo roof again, this helps solo players that positioned or thought ahead of time abiut the extract location. But just make sure the side doors close when in the air so a cheese player can't just come in and kill a full team 2 seconds before the load screen. Like we see in these "skill based KZfaq clips". It's not skill it's surprise in a game that has rediculous TTK. People will also forget that it isn't a guarantee because other options exist to kill the players on a roof. Oh and 1 final change. Make 3 stacks unable to add more to a squad. You will be suprised the amount of times 5 or 6 players have tried to load into the same map for a free gank squad. By limiting the invite option you prevent a possible 12 man gank squad by picking up other squads after killing them. There is also another sinister thing they can do but I won't say what here because it's slowly picking up steam and when you find out you will understand. It makes the extraction unusable and it's not cheating either. I think that about covers the changes I would make for solo players.

Yeah spotter scope is quite good for solos. Since it doesn't give off glint when assessing potential threats. With a bonus thermal for spotting bush boys. I sometimes even carry it for trios. Acting as a spotter for the team.
