I'm a writer and I recently finished a piece about this connection. I watched the extended reading and my jaw literally dropped when you intuitively said two strong and clear adjective keywords that I used in my piece, that completely sums up the whole theme of what he bought into my life. Such good advice about giving yourself room to react. I've found so many people make assumptions about what relationships mean, or what certain gestures mean for the relationship. I once had a BF who was so scared of losing me, he read into things without clarifying. I gifted him a shirt, and later found out he had somehow taken it to mean we were actually engaged. Apparently the exchanging of material possessions equated in his mind to long term commitment. To me, it was a case of seeing a shirt I thought he'd look good in. I didn't even love him. Just an example of how things can get misunderstood. Breathe, step back, clarify. Now I'm all topsy turvy over another guy, and can see how I need to step back and give myself room without assuming that this means that. If he gave me a ring, I think I'd pass out. But once I came to, I'd need to ask him what the ring means. Could be engagement, could be friendship, could be just thinking it would look nice on my hand. Great advice to LEAVE ROOM.
