This is interesting. In Sweden, in Old Town Stockholm (where most of the tourists go) there are only 2 ATMs and in the central city there are 16. I think most tourists (and of course locals) use their cards. It´s mostly the elderly who use cash, and ATMs, here I think. But most of them that I know feel safer to withdraw cash at the supermarket than by an ATM on the street. So there has been fewer and fewer ATMs since almost no one uses cash anymore. It´s been years since I paid for anything in cash here.

Yeah, we've been spared from most of these things that happen in larger European capitals. But there's other issues like old stores being converted to cheap souvenir shops with mass produced crap. And of course the cup and ball scammers. Still, there's a lot of heart in Old Town and it's still a place where locals choose to go out for drinks or dinner.

Here in Ireland, Euronet ATM's are a somewhat common sight. A lot of places have Euronet ATM's inside their stores. The huge difference is, in Ireland it's illegal to charge an additional fee for withdrawing cash. However, they are allowed to charge fees for currency conversion. So, if anyone is seeing this and plans to come to Ireland, be sure to select paying in Euros rather than your home currency! Ireland is very expensive already, you don't need to give these Euronet people even more money!

In London virtually all ATMs loudly advertise that they offer free cash withdrawals. The only ATMs that charge fees are the ones at petrol stations. I wonder if some of the ATMs are programmed to treat you differently if your account is denominated in a foreign currency so that the locals don't wise up to them, & continue telling lost tourists that the nearest ATM's round the corner.

Yes they are. Euronet does this all over Europe. In Romania they're also present (but not every 10 meters like in Prague, WTF!); if you use a local RON card they offer to withdraw RON with no markup; if you use an EUR card (local or foreign), or some other currency, they offer to withdraw RON with a horrible exchange rate. Are there actually banks with atm’s ? And are they better ? I usually only withdraw if the bank machine is at an actual bank. Would that help me in your country ?

Yes. There are many normal ATMs around Prague too. But those are not generally embedded into protected buildings and monuments in the historical city center because they are not such huge assholes. Normal ATMs are located in stores, shopping malls or in bank branches.

yes theyr big assholes, here in czechia they alway put the atm to a historical site, but because ofc the crooks are always oone stop forward of the law it takes so much paper work and time and the fee at the end is so small that its worth for them. Bunch of btchez. They were actually prohibited to put it there. but they did anyway.

Hi all, hoping to visit Prague this moth. Am I correct in saying leaving the UK you provide your double jabbed certificate and passenger locator form and then get a predeparture PCR test in Prague and once you arrive back in the UK get a day 2 and day 8 test? Are you allowed to travel to Slovakia for a day trip?

Last time my family and I went to Greece (Crete in particular) we could only find euronet ATMs in the area we were in. We looked HARD for a bank ATM but the banks were all closed or needed a card issued by that bank to get into the bank (as they were unmanned). My relatives all had German debit/credit cards so there would be no transaction fees using the card in Greece, but it seemed like 9/10 of the places we tried to spend money were cash only. We came with maybe €50 to €100 each and that slipped away very quickly before taking money out of the euronet ATMs out of necessity. I think only once my mother accepted the conversion, but as the receipt and money came out she knew that was a mistake. This was a few years ago now so hopefully it's starting to change.

Isn't it a better idea to make a map of atm's that don't ask these extreme fees? I'll start Equa Bank (f.e. Lazarská 1718/3) (and no, I have no ties with them, just used their atm 2 years ago and saved this bank for next visit).

I totally agree! We were in Prague this week and we didn't withdraw any cash before-hand (since 99% of the places accept cards). One night we were at this small bar that (unbeknownst to us) only accepted cash and my bf had to run out and search for an ATM; the first one only accepted huge amounts to be withdrawn and the second one sadly had a bad fee. It was late in the evening though and the rain was pouring so he didn't have much choice. An "honest ATM map" would be golden! I HOPE that they do exist :-)

Hi! You have a nice chanal here! I have been several times in Praug an lik the town. But I agree with you regarding the xchange office and the ATM that somthing need to bee done. Both to not fraud turists and damage the bildings. In this video I begin to thinking about the law that you have regarding of refoundning xchange money if some one want do this within the 3 houers limit. Hav do the ATM fulfill that requrment. Or have some one found a loop hole for the ATM in that law? Please do a video about that!
