Fox News endorsing a political candidate basically decides a quarter of the election results so imo this is one of the most important episodes

Show your data. If they are always selecting a Republican, those are not good odds.

You could even say the same thing about the other major media companies too. CNN, CBS, MSNBC, etc. They all Fox included have a huge influence on picking the candidate best for their self interest.
@yt.byliam

@@Rckitty That is to be said, but I think the primary focus is Fox because WayStar RoyCo. is technically supposed to represent Fox (along with other companies but Fox is the biggest inspiration). I think that’s why OP mentioned Fox specifically. Especially when it does come to more conservative views and decisions. (I’m not trying to start anything I’m just inputting why I think they are mentioning Fox and saying that I believe Succession is a large criticism on Fox)

I like how this show does highlight how the rich and powerful affect politics to protect their interests and it’s pretty scary to watching knowing how that kind of lobbying does happen in picking candidates in us elections for president loved this episode

It's been quite obvious for ages. That's why senators and such are allowed to trade with things they literally affect with their decisions, and that's not deemed ''insider trading'' because they lobby the judicial system.

Are we just not going to talk about it the intense homoerotic tension between Roman and Mencken?? Like please tell me it’s not just me who picked up on the sexual tension in that bathroom scene?? Like Mencken straight up hid/took off his wedding ring before talking to Roman at the bar…

@@jxchamb Nuremberg is a city in Germany infamous for holding Nazi war crime trials after WW2. Some could argue there are parallels between that and what the Roy’s were doing at a republican get together somewhere in rich Arlington/Alexandria/Langley area. Essentially saying “how’s the belly of the beast shiv? Now that you’re in the heart of the storm”

Nuremberg was a major center of Nazi rallies and meetings that solidified political power before the war broke out.

While not an explosive or crazy episode, this one does set in motion some more events to come…and of course, shows how much networking and other back room deals happen with real world type of events.

Well. I love the political episodes because the media does influence public opinion. The actor for Mencken is so charming but I'd hate him IRL because he's a fascist. Both Roman and Shiv wanted to gain from this, Roman wanted attention from their dad, and Shiv wanted to find another path to CEO but politically Shiv is a Democrat. Matthew Macfadyen is such a great actor, I see why he won an Emmy for this season.

Matthew is insanity in this episode even the scene after his confrontation without any dialogue he absolutely commands your attention with just his physicality in his walk and the nuances of his expression alone. The range he has between the comedic and serious sides of Tom is so impressive especially in how he is able to ground the hysterics of Tom for moments of complete coldness. All of the actors on this show are incredibly talented and to pick a best performance is unnecessary, however in my opinion nobody captures the essence of the tragicomedy as brilliantly as Matthew Macfadyen.

Why does Rob get constantly upset about so many trivial things, most of which are supposed to be comedy. It's like he's trying to be overly woke/pc to appease to the viewers. This channel is definitely never going to be able to watch British comedies for example like Peep Show.

@@jxchamb wdym easy to ignore? Succession was reportedly envisioned under a marxist perspective. Everything about the show is political. Even the family dynamics are a result of how they operate as a media empire. They are the people that help maintain capitalism and they are dealing with the opposition all the time. It's politics. Succession is about presenting a successor and not a disruptor. They're making sure social parameters stay as they are, where the kids try desperately to keep the tradition because they're not real people but a tribute band of their dad. They can't be anything else.
