As you can see/hear Huey put together a damn good bunch of serious players, and they put together a damn good bunch of seriously good songs.

Hugh Anthony Cregg III, known professionally as Huey Lewis, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Lewis sings lead and plays harmonica for his band, Huey Lewis and the News, in addition to writing or co-writing many of the band's songs Huey Lewis owned MTV for a while with some very commercially brilliant tunes like this one. You want to hear. "The Heart Of Rock & Roll".... Huge HIT

Oh these guys have a really extensive catalog & were probably one of the top charting bands of the 80s-90s. They're in a lot of movie soundtracks (most famous is probably "The Power of Love" from Back to the Future). Most of their music is very upbeat & catchy (and you'll get the horns in every song...I think...can't think of any songs without horns). Worth exploring.

Huey lewis and The News were an MTV phenomenon, with massive album sales in the later 80's and early 90's. Some other goodies by Huey and the boys: "I Want A New Drug", "The Heart Of Rock and Roll" and "I Wanna Be With You". There is more, but that's all i can think of at the moment. Very fun band with very good musicians,a San Francisco based group I believe.

"I guess I'm a square than"..... I just smiled thinking....It's obvious to most of your subs, you spend so much of your time watching videos of some of the biggest squares in history making their square music videos for us other squares to enjoy you being such a square.... Like Huey says... "It's Hip To Be Square"

❤For those of us who came of age in the 60s and early 70s, the changes in focus and priorities in the 80s were jarring. What was once definitely uncool was now the epitome of cool! Huey Lewis and the News are ALWAYS a great time. Try Heart of Rock and Roll, The Power of Love, I Want a New Drug, Do You Believe in Love, Jacob's Ladder, Workin' For a Living. They'll all put a smile on your face.😅

Reaction Suggestion: I haven’t seen anyone React to The Jets (Crush on You) or Menuno (Hold Me). The Jets are a family group (like Selena was) and Menudo was a boy band that spawned Ricky Martin who coaxed us into Shaking Our Bon Bons with him. The videos alone are worth the react and the light hearted fun.

For another "hip to be square" song give a listen to "You're So Square" by Joni Mitchell.

Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

I think their undisputed masterpiece is Hip to be square. A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should! Because it's not only about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
