Australian Reptile Park Manager of Life Sciences Hayley Shute says “kangaroos aren’t the fluffy icon of Australia that they’re perceived to be” after a 77-year-old-man dies from a kangaroo attack in Western Australia.
This is the first kangaroo-caused death since 1936.
“They’re wild animals and especially male kangaroos, much of their behaviour is about battling one another, trying to get to that alpha position,” Ms Shute told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
Ms Shute advised people to always keep a safe distance from wild kangaroos.
