yeah eco friendly should mean upgradable ram . one of the reason laptops get tossed is low ram . the user exceeds the ram built in

Agreed. At least 32gb of ddr5 should go a long way towards keeping this laptop usable for most instances. It enrages me when they ship 4gb soldered RAM in modern Win11-capable laptops

not to defend the brand, but I sent a laptop 6 times for repair during the warranty years, and they always fix it, and they are usually fast, 7-8 days of repair

I just got the Asus Creator Q laptop, which is basically a reskinned Vivobook as a Best Buy exclusive. It's cheaper than this laptop and has much better specs. Same screen as well.

Fairly repairable? If a memory module goes bad you'll have to replace the entire motherboard. The only replaceable parts are the batery and SSD... What's so repairable in that?

And the only reason there's no replacable ram is because they wanted it to be 1cm. If it were a little thicker they could have very easily made replacable RAM possible. It's bs.

No need to guess if those are Thunderbolt ports, there’s a thunderbolt icon next to them ;) I wouldn’t mind a laptop being a little thicker just to have the ability to upgrade ram and ssd

It's not about thicker or not. Upgradeable ram in 13 inch laptop mean lower battery capacity and if it upgradeable it usualy mean one slot upgradeable the other one is soldered. If you do want full upgradeable laptop its usually start from 15 inch and sometimes 14 is also capable with only one slot of NVME.

5:54 - Uh, you can still use CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to open Task Manager in Windows 11, even though they removed the option to open it when you right-click on the taskbar. Also Brand Unification *SUCKS.* The boot screen should only have the Windows logo, not the PC manufacturer logo, EVER.

Soldered/hard-wired RAM is a usually deal-breaker for me, though 32GB should be enough for 95% of all uses. 2/3 of the price is that OLED display. Laptop manufacturers really need to find a way to incorporate mini LED or quantum dots into these panels to bring down the prices.

soldered RAM used to be a turn-off for me... however, I think the main selling point of a laptop, is that it just WORKS. and space saved by soldered RAM goes to better cooling, or a bigger battery. both of these are far more important in a laptop. 16gb of RAM is enough for productivity and light gaming. for me, removable battery and storage is all the repairability I need.

As someone that always brings with him - and uses - a mouse with his laptop, can someone please explain to me why people seem to be happy about a bigger touchpad mouse on the laptops these days, instead of smaller ones? To me, who disables the touchpad because it is in the way when using the keyboard, I can't understand this, it just seems like the bigger the touchpad the bigger the inconvenience is.

@@John_1920 Some laptops have really good palm rejection. What that means is that it doesn't register your palms as a finger press or movement. Some people also really like not having to use a mouse or even keep track of one

@@John_1920 yeah same. I mean you keep your finger in almost one spot all the time anyways... You can really see that when you have dealt with a bunch of laptops to repair or upgrade. The middle of the trackpad is always so worn out, but not much outside that little area

Yeah no ... My last ASUS laptop malfunctioned so badly I'm never buying anything Asus ever again. Even when I took it in for a repair they took more than a month to try and fix it before eventually just giving up and giving me a refund.

well in quebec canada it is eco-friendly since 98% of energy is hydro-electricity (the last 2% are gas for cars and solar energy) so it does not polute here but yes in country like saudi-arabia it is bad to use electricity (paper polute less then computer there)

I don't understand their RAM decision at all.. 5200mhz? Is the CPU binned that badly? Especially since its soldered to the motherboard and literally directly next to the CPU, it should be able to run MUCH faster. Then again, this is a business machine not a workstation or a gaming device. Understandable I guess. Probably also battery life. But seriously tho, 6000mhz would be in there for sure if not way more

OLED on a laptop is a no go. Burn-in is a serious problem with these screens. It's a shame Austin didn't mention it at all in his review. Dishonest. Also, ASUS is a horrible, scumbag company. You lost my trust, Austin.

Asus has always made good hardware, it's just always been kind of hard to choke down. Like with ROG or TUF devices, being more expensive and uglier than Alienware takes away from how good the system may actually be compared to it's competition lol
