Okay, so let me see if I got this straight, the father immigrates to a new country to have better business opportunities, yet still insists on keeping his old world values in his home that specifically keep him in a position of power and because their his culture, even though his new home land doesn’t agree with it, so he wants to have the benefits of the new world while still keeping the privileges of the old one. I feel like the saying, you can’t have your cake and eat it to somehow applies here.

Normally I respect other people’s cultures and traditions also because I find them fascinating and educational to learn from others face to face than relying on books and videos alone ✊🏽 But, I have to agree with the detective that what the father was doing to the daughter was highly unfair even more so making her decline from adopting a child; which she’s desperate to have!! And to add further insult to injury is forcing her to leave her only home on account of the new wife who’s young enough to *LITERALLY* be her younger sister 🙎🏽‍♀️

It's complicated when it comes to religious people. Essentially the child should be of the faith. But they are not going to convert a baby. So if there is a situation where a non-jewish child is adopted by Jewish people, they are very kindly informed about their background but are taught the family values and are given a choice when they are old enough to understand about whether or not they want to convert, (conversion is a big step and the motivation behind it has to be the right kind). I'm not 100% sure of the specifics but this is the jist of it. About the ostracism- the more religious you are the easier it is for this to occur- in any religion and ethnicity. Ask anyone who comes from a strict background- be it Christian, Jewish, Muslim or any minority society or religion, it is so easy for the family and communityto turn them away if they are different.

@kossttamojaan
@kossttamojaan 2 жыл бұрын
"Sitting" Shiva It is an ancient Jewish tradition that mourners, during Shiva, do not sit upon chairs of normal height. Until modern times it was the custom to be seated on the earth itself, a procedure which demonstrated the departure from normalcy during the early stages of bereavement. Thus, expression was given to the sense of loneliness and depression one felt after one's relative was interred in the very earth on which he sat. The Bible tells us that when Job suffered a succession of disasters he was comforted by friends who sat with him "to the earth." It is, almost in a literal sense, a physical adjustment to one's emotional state, a lowering of the body to the level of one's feelings, a symbolic enactment of remorse and desolation. The mourner today sits "to the earth," in the biblical phrase, by sitting closer to the earth on a wooden stool or hassock or footstool, on a mat or on several pillows. The material the mourner chooses to sit on is, at present, unimportant. It is not the stool that is important. Primarily, the tradition stipulates, he must sit on a level lower than that of normal seating height, and whether the seat is or is not comfortable is irrelevant. If he desires, he may put a cushion on the stool. Sleeping on a bed of normal height is permitted.

I was thinking the same thing I thought that Iran was Muslim. I didn't think that they believed in anything else then Allah. I got way more to learn as well. That's actually pretty cool tho. I live learning about different cultures. Jewish ppl are one way but Iran Jewish are a little.bit different. It seemed like they believed in some of Allah and also Jewish at the same time. They had some of the same things that Iran's do and then some of Jewish. I wonder if they are Jewish over there in Iran or if it's just here in America where your allowed to believe in what you want to? I rather talk to someone about it then just read on it. Because each person is different and bring their own little twist to it as well.

@@stephanielong2674In fact "Allah" is GOD in Arabic, so Arabic Jews and Arabic Christians call God Allah when they pray. By the way, Muslims have faith in the Prophets Moses, Jesus, and all the Prophets of the Bible peace be upon them. Muslim believe ancient Jews and ancient Christians were following Allah (God)'s religion, and after a while some things have been changed. Muhammed is the other prophet that came after Jesus, like Jesus came after the other Prophets (Moses etc) peace be upon them. Allah (God) says in the Qoran to Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him: Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O People of the Book (Jews and Christians)! Let us come to common terms: that we will worship none but Allah, associate none with Him, nor take one another as lords instead of Allah.” But if they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we have submitted ˹to Allah alone˺.” (3:64)

It is common for kids to become more comfortable with one language over the other, but if the native language is still spoken at home they’re not going to lose it. I would assume these folks speak their native language at home with each other. I know many people, family and friends, whose accents are just as strong as when they left their country 20+ years ago - or even part of the country. My grandma left the Bronx and moved west in the 80s and her accent never wavered for the 40 years she was here; her best friend lived longer in the US than in Germany and had a very thick German accent her whole life 🥰
