Miami Boat Ramps

Жыл бұрын

Welcome to the Miami Boat Ramps channel. We are dedicated to bringing you all the craziness that goes on at the boat ramps in South Florida! Sit back and enjoy the show!
Ramps we currently cover: 79st (La 79!) / Black Point Marina / Haulover
We are working on adding 2 more ramps to the roster. Stay tuned!
Don't forget to hit the like button, subscribe and leave us a comment. If you don't, we're coming to steal your drain plug!
Also be sure to check out our other channels

Disclaimer : We receive a ton of emails and messages from people telling us we filmed them at the ramp this past weekend and they want to know when the video will air. This is not a question we can typically answer. We film from three or more ramps every week and have a massive back log of content and sometime it could be weeks or months after an event occurs before we air the video. We put stuff out as fast as we can but we only air three videos a week and in a typical weekend get 6-10 episodes worth of content meaning we get content faster then we can air it. Thanks for watching and just be sure to keep watching looking for your content it will air but probably not immediately after it happens!

I also did the drag the boat up with the trim down on my IO of my new boat once. I was used to a lake house where we pulled up to the slip and just raised the boat. I was new to trailering. Boy, did I ever learn a lesson that day. I will never forget the people who ran up yelling that I was dragging the IO. Never forgot again.

It happens a few times with guys that are used to straight drives and jets. This is why a checklist is important with new boats and to rehearse it. Be a Pro at the ramps.

I think the most frustrating thing to watch is people stand a watch when they could with minimal effort help someone out and avoid some major frustration and issues.

Use mid-cleats, people. Mid-cleats. A lot of these boats look like they are big enough they should have them. If you hook up your mid-cleat first, then you don't have nearly as much trouble with the stern or bow swinging out.

It's amazing to me how ''captains'' don't follow the ''I'm done with being out on the water plan'', now it's time to get the boat out and go thru a mental list of what has to be done. Seeing so many skegs ''drag''I wonder where people's minds are. When the ignition is turned off the first or second thing to do is to raise the outdrive, that's a given! Work's for me!!!!!

I'm surprised the city doesn't place additional rails on the pilings going down into the water so the fenders on the boat have something to rub against. Anyways as you said the struggle is real as new boats continue to get scratched up at the docks.

I keep wondering why people don't use cheap pool noodles to rig fenders from gunwale to waterline.
@tclem44
@tclem44 Жыл бұрын
@@fastwin493 Thanks for the reply. Doesn't it require at least four of the 6-8" fenders to protect one side of the hull? But my real question is why aren't fenders made to protect from just above the gunwale to the waterline? My thinking on pool noodles is that they would protect from the small bumps which are all I see in videos and would be super cheap because you could make fenders for less than $2 each. Again, though, after looking at boat fenders for sale online, why don't they protect the gunwale?

Here in Mn where we have lots of lakes most boats don’t come with center cleats which would be nice if they did. Makes it easy to tie off if there is only one person in the boat

Why are people so reluctant to tie a line then use the motor to get the boat against the dock ? So easy, as long as you're precise with the power and direction.

I can't stand watching anymore. The bow line is the worst use for initial control. It's much easyer to have a line midships at first. You can keep control on almost any size boat and keep it parallel to the dock.
@stadleroux
@stadleroux Жыл бұрын
It's all in the leverage. The leverage of a whole boat moving out from a bowline is enormous and if you throw a line out midships you not only halve that force, you also hold half that force in your hands.
