My mother was a conservative republican and my step father was a left leaning independent, they hardly ever voted the same, they talked about it, they went and voted and that was the end of it. I used to say I hate politics and don't want to get entangled in it bcs I saw my parents worry and argue about it on a daily basis. But then as I got older, I realized, you cannot escape it. Why? Here's the issue with families being divided over politics. I face this in my own family, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law are Lefties. We don't talk politics. But here's the thing. I don't hate them. The Right does not hate their Lefty family members, but the Lefties HATE their Righty family members. The Right disagree and the Left takes disagreement as hate. That's the problem. The Left feels they are superior and everyone must be made to think the way they do.
