In about 3 hours I am having my right leg amputated below the knee. I never heard it put it this way but it is because of the "Damn nuisance" reason. 8 years ago I shattered my leg. 8 surgeries, 2 failed fusions and now diagnosed with CRPS type 1 (RSD1). I am done.

I'm an amputee and it depends on the patient. If my doctors would've said that to me, I would've transferred to another hospital on the spot. Telling me it was an amputation, and that I would get to walk with a prosthetic leg was the best course of action for me

I liked your video, but I encourage you to discuss your view on stump length with a prosthetist. Dan Strzempka (popularized by Winter the dolphin) does a lot of work speaking to surgeons to try and get them to understand that a longer limb does not necessarily create a better life for the patient due to complications in creating useful prosthetic devices for them.

your only stuck if you decide your stuk,, I was ran over by a Illegal Drunk Drive and had my left leg at the kee ripped off in the grill of the vehicle that hit me.. more than 100 other bones also broken including my pelvic and hip joints bing broken after 3 year I am walking so don't let No Physical Therapist tell you what you can or can't due, also was in a coma for the 1 year, You can due it if you want. PS if you have pain when applying what or pressure onto the stump work on Desensitizing the stump end in a warm shower and a large bar of soap and message the end of the stump after time it will stop hurting and toughen up a tolerance and it will no hurt or bother you as much Good Luck ..

For some reason I recently started to wonder what is done at stump end because it seem sharp bone resting on soft tissue would be at risk pushing through or at least serious discomfort. I guess that muscle flap fold over technique, Myodesis and Myoplasty, takes care of it.
