I'm wondering though about the 1 point per 3+ goal. Could there be an incentive for a team, that is going to win anyway, to purposefully allow their opposing team to score 3 goals just so they can get an additional point and perhaps affect the league standing in some way. For example, if by giving the losing team 1 additional point they knock out some other rivaling team, or prevent them from falling out of the league. I wonder if there could be this kind of unexpected side effect.

As a rugby fan, I'll say that the bonus point and the refferee using a mic have only brought positives to that sport, and football should definitely follow. Specially the refferees and VAR's using mics, as that is a pivotal part of the VAR in rugby that didn't carry over to footballs version, resulting in VAR in football being more of controversy maker than a controversy solver

The problem with the additional points is it would just give rich teams even more points at the top of the league, because they score loads of goals most weeks anyway. It would widen the gap even further. Also, when it comes to the PL, it's already an attacking league anyway, teams generally don't need extra motivation to attack even more.

I think a point for scoring 3+ goals should only be for a draw of defeat. A 3-3 draw gives both teams 2 points. A 4-3 win gives the winner 3 points and the loser 1 point. It means that teams losing 5-2 would push for a last minute 3rd goal rather than both teams just going flat. The trouble with giving the extra point to the winning team is that big teams will get so many extra points on top of all the wins that the gap between them and the rest will grow.

Henry is all the way in rugby! I'd also add that the Ref will only speak to the Captain and no one else. At least in this regard, you'd have more respect for your captain and the Sir/Ma'am that's officiating the match. I liked hearing someone like Henry bringing in ideas from other sports. They already have VAR, but TMO in rugby i believe solves more issues (most of the time. You might have 1 or 2 that you can't decipher) and is "more" transparent, were as in Association Football it is less transparent and asks more questions than it answers.

Some of these are great suggestions. The ref’s should 100% have to speak with the press because they can give a goal away just as easily as any player. I also think the temporary sub for a head injury or any potential life threatening injury would be a great idea. I think safety should be the main priority of the game for players, coaches, fans and anyone involved with the game, and i dont think we cannot truly say this is happening when there will be the pressure put on from management, coaches and other players since they are down to 10 men…. When i say this i specifically am even thinking of the time mourinioh criticised the female physio at Chelsea and caused a whole issue.

Rugby does do a lot of things better than football especially miking up the referees but I think the head injury sub idea actually first started in GAA sports where a “blood sub” could come on when a player had to get assessed and the game more or less doesn’t stop at all for an injury and this would really help stop time wasting

A lot of these are taken from rugby like the Bonus point and the head injury substitute and for his first point the refs in rugby don’t just give a free kick but they do stop the clock if too much time is being wasted and that would be a good thing for football too

I totally agree with Henry with the mics on refs. You can tell sometimes that the ref just said something to a player that probably wouldn't fly with the Ref's association if they had a mic on. Retaliation from a ref is a big red flag that that ref has trouble staying impartial.

I would like to incorporate NBA rules to spend the game up. 1) Shot clock. A team has 3 minutes to score. Failure to score within 3 minutes results in automatic turnover. 2) Backcourt violation. Once the ball crossed the half way line onto the opponent’s half, you cannot go back to your half or else it’s an automatic turnover. So, if the ball is in your half, don’t touch it (unless it’s your GK). You have to let the opponent touch it and then you can steal it right back. 3) 8-seconds violation. In the NBA, you have 8 seconds to progress the ball to the half way line. Failure to move the ball pass the half way like is an automatic turnover. So, a team has 1 minute to move the ball to the opponents half. So, a team that likes to build from the back, you have 1 minute. Not every team likes to press an opponent that builds from the back. But if you do, you have 1 minute. So a good pressing team can benefit from this as well.

Only a pro player can come up with those points, specially the one about the refs, that'd def bring accountability from refs, they'd know they'd be questioned about poor decisions n whatever, that's my fave, long live King Titi 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 but just for King for a day anyways 😂

Fans, journalists and other pundits have been saying this for years. It's hardly a unique idea to mic up refs or have them address the media. Where have you been for the last 30 years?

It's nice to see a football show actually have FUN for once! 😂So many pundits, especially in England and Spain, are just brutally harsh on the athletes and sport itself and it just feels so miserable at times. Getting the Inside the NBA footy version is a blessing to have!
