not sure if you guys know the studio albums, the performance, the recording and the mix are all pretty bad, at some point the male singer frankly out of tune. Sound us muffled, balance is bad. Not sure how you can say the mix is "gods work", its electronic music with just two singers, about the easiest thing to mix v, a live like that (in a small room, with no battery or live instruments) should sound same as the album, assuming the performance and recordings are decent, which is not the case here.
@AlexMPruteanu
@AlexMPruteanu 8 ай бұрын
@@lo2740 you got it. Also, they're all playing under the recorded, mixed track on the album. That's why everyone is praising the sound engineering. Because it's the album first and foremost you're hearing, then these guys in the studio waaay under. The vocals are live, however.

The one word I got when reading your listed bands was 'artistry'. That word could be used to descibe each of those groups. You can tell it meant something to them other than money. Relevant then, revelant 10 years ago, and if dropped today... any of those bands hits would top charts and sell out venues as they did 25 yrs ago. Portishead was Lo-Fi before Lo-Fi was Lo-Fi

Holy shit! That first track is perfection! I was looking at the coolest person to have ever existed with each camera switch. The bassist is all in, fully committed to the funk, body and soul. The guy on the scitar-thing is so good I thought it was in my head. Lose the vocals. Give them tambourines. Relistening to that first track again

Saw them at NYC Pier 17, October 2019. Maybe the best live music event I've ever been to. These guys are real, talented artists. They went on to improv like half the songs. Classy crowd too.

One of my favorite bands. Psychedelic music, sometimes haunting, sinks very deep into the soul, grasping it, caressing it, at times titillating at times hurts with tough love.

Listen: I've watched this probably 25 or 30 times. All I can say is, the interviewer is absolutely amazing. He totally "gets" Thievery Corporation. And this recording (quality-wise) is absolutely amazing. I'm totally looking forward to seeing them in Harrisburg, PA on September 26, 2021. I already have my ticket.
