@@grrwuff4099 I always speak up for younger people and their new music, but I was in high school in the 80s, and that was a sad, difficult time for me too. I never though rock would die. It hasn't died, but it's gone from mainstream music for sure. A Flock of Seagulls, Tears for Fears, Howard Jones, nothing wrong with that music, but for a rocker, it was death. Grunge and metal lived on, but they were very narrow genres. My favorite music was gone from the charts, but that meant I had to create my own music. As musicians, it's ok, as long as we don't expect the pop world to like us.

You know what?! As good as they were compared to others, they were not pushed and supported by the media like some who were after almost nothing, and the media kept them in the center for years.

⁠@@beenaplumber8379I respectfully disagree. For example, if you mention, Dancing In The Moonlight, this band should immediately come to a serious music listener’s mind, but it’s not. They instead think of think of King Harvest’s version of a song with the same name but it’s a totally different(literally speaking) and inferior song. 99 out of 100 people stopped on the streets of hipsterville between 40 and 70 would not say “Tin Lizzie” if you asked who sang it. I think the reason that Thin Lizzy’s music is under appreciated is they simply lack an iconic catalog. The Stones have a million b-sides that never get heard on the radio and those songs are top tier songs and the reason they get the accolades. People would buy the album and surprise it has ten great songs on it (see Exile in Main Street). And that’s what separates them from TT. Led Zeppelin has a huge catalog, the Beatles, Grateful Dead, Doors, The Clash, and so on. That’s the difference I believe. Then again, I may not have any idea wtf I’m talking about. 😮

That doesn't mean the bands whose deep cuts now elude us went underappreciated. I doubt I would recognize the names of more than 2 songs on any given Stones album either. Everybody knows The Boys Are Back in Town and Jailbreak, many know Whisky in a Jar and Cowboy Song, and others. Thin Lizzy were giants, and people loved them! People knew who they were, and people now at least know they were a major, highly successful rock act back in the day. Do they remember Argent? Golden Earring? Focus? We get old, we forget things, but when we hear the music, we still remember it, and it makes us feel good. Thin Lizzy got the greatest recognition: Packed arenas, high record sales, and heavy airplay on both pop and rock radio. That doesn't happen when a band is underrated. It only happens when they have achieved massive success. In YT comments, people don't mean underrated when they use that word. It either means "I only just learned of them" or "I like them so everyone else should too, or else they're stupid." Often it means "Music was objectively better when I was a teenager," whenever that was. (We weren't all teenagers at the same time, so that can't be objectively true.) It's all usually self-centered commentary, not a true statement that some artist actually did not receive the recognition they deserved. Thin Lizzy was not as big as the Rolling Stones. Go figure. I like them more than I like the Stones, but that's subjective taste. It doesn't mean either deserved more or less credit than they got. It's my taste, which is a much more honest thing to say than they were underrated. I remember the 70s, and I know they weren't. They fell off the charts, quit making music, and Phil died. The critics have moved on.

And just think what a shame it is that this band is not in the Rock and roll hall of fame They should change their name to rock and roll hall of shame For ignoring this ban for so many years Unbelievable

Phil was a cool dude, and the rest of the band was pretty damn good too. Knowing how Phil went out is truly heartbreaking, I haven't known anyone who shared his addiction, but I know most go out the same way. Gone WAY too soon, RIP Phil 🙏❤

He was the definition of cool in my junior high school. Thin Lizzy was one band that everyone could agree on in the late 70s. Just put Jailbreak on the turntable and keep flipping it till everyone's passed out.

Love the album, must be said though, was heavily overdubbed and touched up by Visconti, so not a true live recording. Other than that, sounds near studio quality and it sold well.

I saw them in 1983 - and bought L&D the very next day. Overdubbed or not it replicates one of the best live bands ever

They called the better stuff Columbian , and later we were getting Red Haired Sess , as they called it . I actually stopped smoking weed way back in the early 90's when I smoked some tainted stuff my older bro brought over . I was really messed up from it , whatever it was laced with made me forget things . I literally would be driving somewhere and all of the sudden wake up out of a trance like deal . I did not remember getting out of bed , getting in the car , or driving to where I was ? did I run red stoplights ? I did not recall anything from that morning . That went on for several days , I asked my Bro what the hell was in it , and he said nothing , and he always goes through that ! I had smoked weed for may years and never went through anything like that . I was done , and never touched it again . Now that it's legal in Michigan , I may grow some of my own to be sure it's not messed with .

Absolutely, same tour in Cleveland’s Music Hall. Great show!

I saw them the next year, 78, on a 3 band bill with Blue Oyster Cult headlining at the Palladium. The Dictators were also supposed to play but their equipment, along with Blue Oyster Cult's, never arrived at the venue. Blue Oyster Cult played with some of Lizzy's backline equipment. I am pretty sure the next 2 nights were cancelled as I have seen all these shows listed in Lizzy concert dates as cancelled. But I can assure you, that Friday showed happened and Thin Lizzy was great!

Saw that tour in Detroit about a week later. Awesome show!

@@revwahfair I have a Phopto Album full of ticket stubs. Like Black Sabbath for $3.50 The Stones were the only band that charged $10 . Those were the best days. We could go to the Shows for $8. That included the ticket and drinks and a bus ride.

I had a friend I could see sitting a few rows over from me during the Todd Rundgren RA Tour he was he was on the front row of the Balcony and he slept on the front top of the Balcony. I think it was Secobarbital if I remember correctly. That is what I tell the younger people. We had real drugs back then. Glad we survived!! The Stones brought Furry a new Guitar. Mick said he wanted Furry to see him play on stage the first time. It was the Some Girls Tour in 78. We had a go through Hunfreds of Feminist to get into the Colosseum. They were protesting the Album Cover. It was a experience.

I was there in '75 - '77 a lot of CONCERTS in Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich.

I was there in 82 also. Unfortunately one of my ex girlfriend tossed some of my stuff, including my photo albums.
