Phil is the definition of cool. That guy had some Incredible charisma. Sad he's gone.

Yup. He should have had more common sense though, in stead of throwing away his life before his time had come. Even Brian Connolly reached almost twice his age.... And Gary Moore did. Somewhat less charisma and somewhat more common sense would have led to more Thin Lizzy music for us and more girlfriends to this eternal casanova.

I've been a casual fan of Thin Lizzy's with my knowledge of their songs being limited to "The Boys Are Back in Town" , "Dancing in the Moonlight" , and "Jailbreak". For awhile "Jailbreak" was my favorite Thin Lizzy song until I fell upon this song. From their I decided to delve more deeply into Thin Lizzy's & Phil Lynott's music and I'm realizing that there was way more good stuff there. "Baby Please Don't Go" is now a huge favorite of mine. "Got To Give It Up" , "No More" , "Growing Up" , "Somebody Else's Dream" , "King's Call" , "Please Don't Leave Me" , "I Still Think of You" , "Opium Trail" , "Cold Sweat" , "Don't Believe a Word" , "Hollywood (Down On Your Luck)" have all become newly discovered favorites of mine. I kind of kick myself for not being hip to those songs earlier but better late than never I guess. Discovering this music makes it even more clear to me on how much of a tragic loss Phil Lynott was. Definitely gone too soon. He was the man.

@Kowasi 4 жыл бұрын
In his last year, I believe, he was spared jail for drugs, and the judge said that so long as he was only harming himself, he could go free. At that point, stronger intervention could have made a big difference. Ultimately though, he should have saved himself. Instead he was injecting heroin into the soles of his feet in secret, so no-one would notice the needle marks... a tragedy.

Lyricism is almost as rhythmic as it is melodic. Placement of syllables plays a major part in how vocals flow. This is especially noticeable in rapping, where the rhythm is more important than melody.

So I'll depart sweetheart and leave you with this line (of Coke !) Funny Phil at 2:46, with his finger like he was snorting a line ! Black Rose was recorded in Paris where Phil took a lot of Coke, from France

I remember hearing Thin Lizzy playing on the radio as a kid! I loved some of their songs, but didn’t really know who was singing the songs. Now, many decades later, I got into them big time!!! They were a truly awesome band!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
