Being the 2nd largest city in Norway, we just had to do 2-day layover in Bergen - a big city which has a a small-town charm and atmosphere.
Founded more than 9 centuries ago, Bergen possesses strong roots of the Viking heritage and it was once the main trading centre between Norway and the rest of the European nations.
Unfortunately, our road trip schedule was pretty tight and we only had a full day to spend in Bergen before we set off to Nigardsbreen.
Hence, we've only managed to take a quick tour around the city - visiting the Bergen fish market, trying out some local food, and checking our the Galleriet (Bergen's most spectacular shopping centre).
And true enough, the cost of living in Bergen is really expensive. It wasn't really a shock to us because it was more or less expected when we did our research.
But what we didn't know is that you even need to pay to use public toilets/bathrooms. That really caught us by surprise.
