Elder Bednar warns against the potentially stifling, suffocating, suppressing, and constraining impact of some kinds of cyberspace interactions and experiences upon our souls. When we distance ourselves from relationships, covenants, and the physical body in an online virtual reality, we lose sight of things as they really are.

David A. Bednar was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when this CES fireside address was delivered on 3 May 2009.

That's so incredibly wrong. No one can replace a counselor, let alone a psychiatrist. Apostles and Prophets are the spiritual leaders in this Church, they are not doctors and can not replace the medical help of qualified professionals.

One of my favorite apostles. I had the opportunity of meeting him a few times during my time at BYUI when he was the president there. While listening to a routine Tuesday devotional, where he happened to be the speaker that day, I distinctly received the impression that he would be an apostle one day. Within the year he had retired from president of byui and was called to be an apostle.

We also were able to listen to a talk of his when our daughter attended BYU-I. My husband and I both strongly felt he would become an apostle one day. Like you, about six months later, he was called to be an apostle. What a fine man he is.

“The body and spirit constitute our reality and identity. When body and spirit are inseparably connected, we can receive a fullness of joy. When they are separated, we cannot receive a fullness of joy.” WOW. I never understood exactly why Satan has put so much emphasis on attacking “gender identity” and leading people to mutilating their bodies through gender transformation until I heard this

I think this applies to more than just technology and cyberspace. I think even just reading the wrong kind of books in the wrong kind of mindset or letting our fantasies get to us in any manner is also very applicable.

Revelation is real. Elder Bednar's revelatory words are more relevant today than when they were given in 2012. How many more are still lost in the virtual world today after the lockdowns, and how many more will be lost to the even higher fidelity brought by Meta? Very inspiring message.

What he mentioned about technology in this talk came true. When I was growing up, I enjoyed making relationships in the real world. I felt the joy of talking to people the same age as me and with others too, until I discovered virtual reality. As I grew a bit older, I've noticed that the more I socialise virutally/play games or spend more time in cyberspace for hours on end, the more I just ignore the real world completely. I'm now 18 and I lost the feeling of making friends as I did back then. I'm now finding it hard to socialise with others because my mind has focused too much in the virtual world.

Bursting out crying is different then getting choked up when the spirit touches your heart. When you speak and the spirit touches your heart, this is the greatest teaching moment because it touches the heart of those who heirs these great words, that will pierce the heart with power, joy and Truth all at the same time. Now once you have felt truth you can never deny it.

When our marriage is falling apart, so many decisions can creep in. Staying focused on the gospel principles will help tremendously. Stay away from Blaine. This is the time we seem to always look back on this journey of marriage after it has become a problem. How many red flags we ignored and didn't see because of our blindness. It takes both parties to recognize these red flags and be willing to pray for guidance and correct them before it's too late. Number 1 stay away from judging. First comes disappointment of your spouse and then anger, then hatred. Number 2 repentance is the key to happiness. Repentance will open up a new opportunity for you to be strengthened by the mighty hand of the Lord. Just be careful, when you speak to people, use your words carefully, so you do not cause someone else to judge and condemn your spouse and that goes for the children also. You don't want someone to have to repent for the words you have spoken and anger . When advice is given , do it with a prayer and discernment . Staying close to the Lord and listening to Elder Bednar speak, it sure helps. A word of caution, when you come to the point of being overwhelmed, and you will. Most importantly this is the time you consume yourself in Humble prayer. We seem to think we can do it all ourselves, don't lie to yourself. Call up pond your gracious Heavenly Father for help. You have done everything in your power to make things right and I cannot do it anymore. I need your gracious hand to take this load from me, I can't do it anymore. Please take this load, for my Lord said, his yoke is easy. I am willing to hand everything over to you, just lead and guide me with your wisdom. And whatever else you want to say, in the name of Jesus Christ. Knowing in your heart, it will now all be taken care of with no doubt. I have a testimony of this I speak about. Be grateful you have this learning experience. Keep a prayer in your heart at all times during the day. Like the Lord said, love one another as I have loved you! Thank you for sharing.

I have not become trapped by what he shared here but it IS frightening what can happen to people as they seek to escape life. Some things that are difficult to undergo can to be faced and dealt with rather than trying to run away from by the media, pleasure and drugs, etc. I'd rather know what is happening than be deceived and led down a garden path. Reality can be dealt with, even if slowly. Deception does not get any better!

Elder Oaks called tattooing and excessive piercing as “pagan practices.” Many people see nothing wrong with it but although I try to see past them to the person, The Spirit testifies loudly. This is the same as when I witness any act or idea that is against God’s laws. I am so grateful for those who aren’t afraid to stand for truth. Bless you, dear brother Bednar.

As escolhas levam para diferentes impressões.
