I had a pt one time tell me the last hygienist told her that if her gums didn't get healthy we would charge her more for a cleaning. I tried to explain prophy vs tx for gum disease and she said "no it wasn't that, she was just a b*tch" I was that b*tch :D

Lol it sounds so familiar! Some patients say: I don’t understand why my gums bleeding so much. I brush twice a day and floss every day. They don’t realize we see right away that they barely brush every day and probably don’t even have floss at all 😂😂

I loved the last part. That has happened a couple times to me. The other thing is when they tell you where all their crowns are and any bonding on their front teeth are and not to touch those areas which leaves me to clean about 8 teeth. Lol!

Can you please do a waterpic/waterflosser demo using disclosing tablet/liquid before and after? I can't find anything like that on any KZfaq channel. I am a skeptic and want to see proof that a stream of water actually loosens and removes plaque. An analogy would be washing the car with a strong stream of water only. The large pieces of dirt are washed away, but the small stuff is stuck somewhat to the car and requires scrubbing with a brush. Thanks
@maryann1187
@maryann1187 4 жыл бұрын
luckybro315 One of the hygienists in our practice is a rep for Waterpik. The Waterflosser replaces flossing at the “9 “or “10” setting only. I recommend my patients continue to floss daily as they slowly increase pressure setting. The Waterflosser is NOT intended replace brushing. Now, for those patients that want a “one-and-done”, the Waterpik Sonic Fusion is recommended!
@luckybro315
@luckybro315 4 жыл бұрын
@@maryann1187 I'm also skeptical about "the waterflosser replaces flossing at the 9 or 10 setting...". Part of the reason for flossing is to dislodge tiny particles of food stuck where the teeth actually touch each other. Perhaps, after using the waterflosser at the 9 or 10 setting, we could floss and then spit out into the sink and see if there are tiny food particles that flossing dislodged but the waterflosser missed. I read somewhere that advertising is 50% exaggeration and 50% out right lies. I like to prove things for myself rather than believe something said by someone who stands to make money off of what they are advocating.

This is really funny. I've been told I need a root canal, but my sister thinks I should just get a dental implant instead. Any advice for me? Thanks
@TeethTalk
@TeethTalk 4 жыл бұрын
I would get consultations from both an ENDO and an OS and ask their longterm estimate of success for each. My opinion is to always try to save your own tooth first (root canal) but if its a very low success estimate...then maybe consider implant. Hope this helps!
