What I Wish I Knew Before Starting Law School: 2020
Happy Holidays Everyone! :) I hope you're all healthy and enjoying a well-deserved break. Enjoy me rambling for 11 minutes about what I wish I knew before starting law school! If my months of stress/anxiety, boiled down into a video, can save someone else from months of stress/anxiety than my job here is done. I wanted to go to law school because of the vague goal of "helping people," whatever that means, and to be financially stable aka make a lot of money. So whatever your reasons for going to law school are, they're completely valid! There's lots of time in law school to figure out what your goals/interests are too! :)
Also! Please remember, this is just my experience and my opinion, everyone's experience will be different so take all my advice with a grain of salt.

Okay, as a paralegal, it made me feel kind of special that you were a little intimidated by them! I have spent years feeling "less than" attorneys, so it's just special that someone might think we are cool.

This was super helpful, thank you so much!!! I just watched your LSAT video but I was wondering if you could make a video about how exactly you studied. How long (and often) did you study? What was your study schedule? How did you plan out your study material for the day? I am taking the LSAT next year so it would be super helpful! Thank you :)))))

Heading into my 1L this fall, I just wanted to say that this was the only helpful video I have found. My girlfriend and I broke up, one of the reasons being that she thought I didn't want to go to law school, even though it was an extremely difficult decision for me to make! I really appreciate this, with 2 years of experience at a firm, and one year with a UN polysci masters program, I know I got this! Thank you!

thank you so much for your tips they were super helpful!! i heard 1L is the most stressful year (glad to hear youre thriving nevertheless!) since its super competitive and difficult to earn good grades - with that mentioned do you think umich is more strict/leniant w 1L grades (based on your experience so far)? oh and happy holidays!! :)

it makes me happy to hear that you found them helpful! 1L has definitely been a stressful experience so far lol, and 1L grades are also your most important grades, since OCI is usually summer after 1L, so I can see why it's the most stressful. I haven't gotten any grades back yet, but will make a video about it as soon as I do! :)

Happy holidays!! :) Out of curiosity, why do u think it's important to be involved in clubs? How many hours do you commit to clubs per week? I was thinking of joining choir and a law-based club, though I already know I'm gonna be dying lol

I definitely don’t think everyone has to be involved in clubs! A lot of my friends aren’t :) I just thought it was really important to me because I don’t have a lot of work experience, so I thought I could pad my resume a little bit through clubs. You can def choose to focus on your studies instead. I commit maybe 3-5 hours, depending on the week? So not that much really, but it can feel like a lot lol

Happy holidays Caroline! I’m interested in making KZfaq videos and would like to ask the following: -Once I can sign up for Adsense to get money from Google for my videos, do I need a personal website to sign up for Adsense? If yes, what’s an easy way to make one?

Because I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer, so for me, there wasn’t any point to take time off before law school and explore something else :) also I graduated in a pandemic so there weren’t much other options 😂
