I’m a dedicated Sims 2 player and it took me a long time to start playing Sims 3. When I finally got around to it, I played Agnes Crumplebottom, romanced and married Eric Darling (ghost) and had twin daughters. I had just decided which twin was going to be the legacy and one day I had her (Jessica, no lie!) out harvesting the garden in the neighbor’s yard and she got hit by a meteor. I was shocked and devastated. And then a miracle happened. She gave the Grim Reaper a flower and came back from the dead! I had no idea either of those things were possible. I laughed and cried at the same time. She went on to get an epic tattoo to commemorate the event, traveled the world, became a ghost hunter, and eventually moved into her own house where I put her meteor on display in the front yard. That first night a burglar came and stole it. 😂 I love the Sims. I’m still playing Sims 2. I’m trying to learn to love Sims 4 but it’s hard. It’s really hard.

When my youngest was around five or so, she used sims concepts to vocalize her own needs and wants. For example, one night when she was going to bed she told me that her fun bar was in the red and she needed fun. It was so interesting how the game helped her communicate.

I was in my thirties when Sims 2 came out. My husband would complain at the cost of playing, and I would reply that it's a cheap psychologist. I swear it kept me sane. as a brazilian, i've studied in schools with uniforms and no uniforms. not having uniforms often meant more classism, more bullying, etc etc. however uniforms here are usually like ugly ass sweats and a white tee with the school logo embroidered. if i knew there were countries where kids wore these cute pleated skirts and shirts and blazers i might like. mail myself to the uk in a box to have them
@atkcsc

In Hungary, it is very rare for a school to have uniforms, and I wish we had and glad we didn't have it at the same time... I was never the even remotely fashionable, so I had some negative feelings when I saw other way cooler or richer kids running around in nicer-looking clothes... but on the other hand, when I started dressing in a way that reflected my personality, making do with what I had, I was very happy I was able to express myself through clothing as well. School was dictating so much of my life anyway, I was glad how I was dressing was not one of them

I'm with you. I couldn't bear to leave behind my fairy rockstar & his human husband in Sims 3 so I didn't start playing Sims 4 until 2017. And that was only after I found a ton of band/stage/music studio CC, and recreated my whole pantheon of sims in Sims 4. And here I am, in 2023 STILL WAITING for rock bands and fairies. AUGH! Yes to Caleb 💙 Speaking of vampires in books, most people recommend Anne Rice (which YES, I loved the first 4, after which, Anne sorta goes off the rails), and I liked the first 2 Twilight books, but for me, the series I've loved most were The Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris (the one True Blood was based loosely on. Ok WAY too loosely. The books are SO MUCH BETTER.) Besides the vampires, I love her depiction of fairies as beautiful and deadly. So good. I've read some of the books in the series four or five times, and the entire series all the way through twice. LOVE. Just sayin'. :)

i was thinking about it and i think the things that really made an impact on me was the lore of the sims 2 when i was a child. literally was sitting on our trampolin and was just talking about the households and what i want to do as if my neighbours wouldn't see or hear me in the garten lol. i was just living my life talking shit about don with myself. i think it greatly influenced my love for lore in general not just the sims. then we have the caliente burglar in the sims 2, mummies in the sims 3 (played it with a good friend of mine and since the pc was in our basement room the shock when a mummy came, while we were exploring, was just priceless :D). the launcher actually traumatized me bc the amount of times my game had starting problems and this one constant error message, it just sucked the whole energy of my day. the sims 3 exchange was a big one, bc it was the first time i was introduced into cc and stuff. the 20th anniversary thing is just a joke to this day, the disrespect with that one was big ngl. honestly it is just crazy how much my friends and i grew up with the sims 2 and 3. a good chunk of what we were talking about in school, on the way to school and back was concerning the sims, when my friends could go home before me bc their french teacher was ill and i still had latin class, they sometimes left me notes/sketches on my bike featuring gunther, cornelia and the whole drama of gunther having an affair with vita whilst cornelia had one with the butler (obviously i still have those drawings) and so it just brings me back so much joy and nostalgia. edit:/ also, sims 2 machinimas, there are some really disturbing ones out there

Your relationship with the sims gives me a lot of solace - I've a few video games that changed my life the way the sims changed yours, and a lot of people tell me that I needed to stop "rambling on" about it and get out and do other things besides play video games. I've gotten better at balancing the virtual world with real life, but I can't deny that these games "alter my brain chemistry" like you say here. The fact that you're out here making videos on the sims years later and even COLLABORATED with EA to make maybe the most beloved kit in the game is awesome - makes me happy that there's love out there for people who are "too obsessed" certain games. I was terrified of house fires from being taught about them in school (they made it sound to me like it'd definitely happen to all of us at some point) so when I had my first fire in The Sims I literally started to cry. Also my very first encounter with a ghost when I didn't know they were a thing in game startled me so badly that I had nightmares that night and couldn't play in the Goth household for a while xD

I'm with you on the Makin' Magic.... I genuinely look at it and get so nostalgic it hurts. I was in my early 20s when it came out, but I STILL want to go back to that time so badly! I listen to the Sims 1 music and reminisce all the time 🥰

The feeling of chasing the emotional state of playing The Sims 1 is something that is SO specific, but SO powerful. I don't know if I will ever be able to experience that kind of wonder and obsessive joy again in my life.

I noticed once I got back to sims 3 how much more I travel in that game compared to sims 4,, the loading screens really just create a barrier to doing anything and there's no incentive to explore around

i am the same with the constant worry about your parents. my dad died in me and my moms arms and while it was traumatic i thank god i was there because he was not alone and it was the 3 of us like it had been for so long. i am even closer with my mom after this of course and i genuinely have no idea what i will do if i do not die at the same time as her because if we don't go together i dont think i could handle it. i wish i had something more comforting to say about the constant worrying about our parents. its been almost 2 years and my brain still tries to deal with it by thinking oh he's just in his room napping, or he's at work. yeah the worry is gone but its been replaced with a different feeling. i know this is an old as video and this is a bit off topic but idk maybe somebody relates or it will help them. the best advice i have is take so many pictures and videos of the people you love that you have space for nothing else because that's got me through a little bit with my bro and dad but it's just not enough but idk if it ever would be enough but ya if anybody else is going through grief like this make sure you see a doctor for some meds even if it's just for a short period to get you through the worst of it

I relate to this so much, on so many levels. Re: Vegan eggs, it's all about that tofu scramble! But black salt, imo, is a must. I ordered some from Amazon, it smells like sulfur - which makes sense, given that it tastes like eggs. It doesn't take much, and bc it is salt you don't need any other type... I love mine with sautéed orange and yellow peppers, onions and mushrooms. Mmmmm, so good! Tyfs! Hope you're having a great week! Best of wishes.

(I added this video to my Watch Later so only just watched it but) O M G the Sims exchange !!! What sweet memories! I loved those little flip-along stories, so much angst 😭I was an "overmodest orator" on the forum too, I miss that place. If I had my own tier list, I would add that Sims 2 installation mini-game you got (basically playing Snap) and put it in "neutral", because on the one hand it was fun; but on the other, it was a 50/50 chance my game would actually install on my terrible PC, so was a super tension-filled experience waiting to see if the installation would crash or not! Plus I thought that if you played the Snap game better, your game would be better...or something... failed logic there!
