'Things not good' Engelbert Humperdinck on wife's death amid 5 MONTH wait to fly body home

Engelbert Humperdinck was married to Patricia for almost 60 years. The crooner's wife died in February after contracting . The 85-year-old's other half had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for more than a decade. The singer has now spoken out about her death and the difficult wait that followed for an official goodbye. Speaking out in a new interview, Engelbert told fans "things are not good" as he reflected on a very tough 2021. He revealed that he considered cancelling his forthcoming tour after Patricia died. It comes after Engelbert and his family had to wait before flying her body back to Leicester from Los Angeles. "We had to wait from February to July to bring her back to England," he detailed. "Leicester is home, but we couldn't move her back until we had permission." The star continued: "We had to wait months and months for the funeral and all that got on top of me." "... Things are not good. It's not been easy." Engelbert said he almost cancelled his The Legend Continues UK tour, which is due to begin in October. It was his loved ones that convinced him otherwise, but he said he knows it will be "mighty difficult". He told the Mirror: "I felt I couldn't face doing it, but my whole family said, 'Don't you think she would want you to do what you do, instead of sitting at home? "'What are you going to do if you don't?' So I'm going to do it." He added: "... I deal with sensitive lyrics and I read lyrics a lot differently now than I did before, but I'm sure my little girl will be watching over me." Engelbert and his wife wed back in 64 and are parents to actress Louise, Bradley, Jason and Scott. He previously revealed Patricia was surrounded by three of their four children when she died, with the fourth on video call. Speaking online on February 6, he announced: "Dear friends, please forgive the silence, after the unbelievable response to our plea for prayers. "Our family is heartbroken over the loss of my darling wife." He then stated: "Last night she slipped softly away, as if by God’s clockwork. "The last rites were given just before our usual prayers at the 8pm hour, by our nephew, Father Paul. It was 4am for him." Engelbert is best known for hits including Release Me and The Last Waltz.
