Thanks for this advice Trell. I contacted a recruiter the Tuesday before last, we ran through the medical questions, I said no to every single one. Told him from the beginning that I wanted MP & Corrections, or Motor T, asked him many questions too. Went to MEPS this Monday, MEPS was a breeze, told the doctor no to everything, he found nothing of concern through Genesis. Ended up getting Sworn into the delayed entry program by the end of the day. My current ship off day is in March, but I'll probably move it to January, and the word is I've been approved for Motor T. Thanks again for the advice Trell, you have helped me so much with all your videos, and I am very excited to ship off.

I joined some time ago. Things are different now. I joined and worked with my recruiter; 9 or 10 people joined after high school. This was good for them, me, and The Corps. There is wisdom here, to a point. In life and joining any branch of the military, you look into it, see what is available, what you can do to better yourself before "game time..", then get the best thing you can for yourself. You will have to work for this in the Corps and in life, don't think you won't; you will fail thinking that you can slide through the Corps and or life. In my case, my recruiter set me up with a 3-year contract for dispersing. I decided at MEPS I did not really want to sit behind a desk. I want to really do Marine stuff. My ASVAB scores were pretty good. When I went to MEPS, I changed my contract to 4 years open contract. This was a gamble, no question; I was willing to take it though. In boot camp, when we were told our mos. I got telecommunications maintenance. This required almost a year of 3 different service schools. Promotions in the field was really good. My first duty station was with the 7th Marines. I loved being with the grunts. Being a division Marine then stationed with an FSSG unit was a huge change. I should have adapted to FSSG while there, so my time there was not as hard as it was. I really disliked the huge politics of the unit. It didn't help that I looked extremely young and was promoted into the SNCO ranks after several really good fitness reports while stationed with the 7th Marines. The Corps, like most things in life, is what you make it; you always have to do your part and be smart about what you do. Good luck to all who serve. Have goals, know what you are working toward, and want out of the Corps or other branch and in life as well. If your goal is just a paycheck....... well.

Definitely need to tell the recruiter if you have a “metal plate” in your knee. If you don’t, MEPS will DEFINITELY find out because there WILL be a scar and they will DEFINITELY see it and ask about it. Just like ACL/MCL surgeries. So basically if you have a surgery that leaves a scar, your recruiter needs to know. Guaranteed you won’t get through MEPS, and your recruiter will be pissed.

You’ll get past MEPS but as soon as you enter fleet/battalion they will evaluate you and if there’s any noticeable degrade post boot they will medically discharge you before you can say boo. Unfortunately my niece just went through this and it was heart breaking. I was and still am proud of her. She was a chubby little dumpling; still made weight and they got her straight. After graduation made her report to the doc and said nope your ass gonna be a liability; bye. Absolutely devastating. If she didn’t bring it up…. She’d be fine as she was doing great. Ugh. Tough thinking about it because her whole mindset changed and she was all for it. Sorry niece; there’s another calling for you. ❤

@@BosleyBeats I spent 20yrs in the Marine Corps with 3 being a recruiter. If you go to MEPS with issues then you need waivers. And after bootcamp medical will only know what you tell them. So if you tell them that you had a problem, then got a waiver and the problem is worse, then that’s where issues start.
