Hi Sarah, I'm a new nurse. I consider you as one of my instructor during nursing school. I'm now employed at the hospital close to where to live and having a hard time get in to gear and learn tons of things that nurses need to know plus one of my preceptor was not really helpful. Just want to say thank you for all you do and keep supporting our new nurses that will be in our community taking of patients in the future. 💗

And one more thing is try and find out about their social history as in do they need carers? Referral to a care/nursing home, are they capable of looking after themselves after discharge, can they self medicate, are they diabetic? If so might needs district nurse referral for insulin education etc, discharge is complex. By engaging with the patients you will learn a lot. Thank you for the vlog..... much love from a fellow nurse in UK

Most of what you wrote is a social workers job so here we would refer them to a social worker to take care of those parts of their care

Things Nurses Should Know: that Sarah is a legit instructor! I was watching her videos back in 2018 waiting to pass my board exam hoping to work in cardiology and it’s 2021 i’m a nurse clinician on a cardio surgery floor with our own mini ICU on the unit! Thank you Sarah I still go back to your videos for reference! Don’t give up if you are a student, you are on the right track by watching this channel! ♥️♥️♥️ hope 2022 is better

Helpful content! I was a non-practicing nurse in my country, and I always felt this debilitating imposter's syndrome. I didn't last that long in my first try -- I got fired due to poor performance. After a year of being underemployed now, I want to retry. This time I'll give it my best shot. Thanks for the informative contents! Keep it up

Get in to a facility that offers an in depth orientation…. Don’t ever feel bad about asking for that. I was out of nursing for quite awhile and returned and felt like a new grad, PLUS everything had progressed and changed and I felt completely like a fish out of water. I would not take a job unless they offered a new grad/ returning nurse internship like orientation… I am seeing online on job search apps that TONS of bigger institutions are offering these. I would NEVER practice nursing unless I felt comfortable and had a team that had my back. My license is too precious. But most importantly… we are dealing with lives!! People count on us and should be able to trust we know what we are doing. Ask….. don’t just Saul through trying to fake it. Nothing is worth that. You will lose your sanity… and it’s dangerous
