"Who are the church fathers?" I was once a member of a mega Baptist church and was in what they call "small group" instead of Sunday School. One of the pastor was leading group while the class pastor was on Sabbatical. The pastor leading out group was teaching the subject "Where did Jesus go when He died". The pastor gave us a couple of verses and no more. I stopped him and ask him about a verse by Peter and ask why he didn't mention that scripture. He replied, "Oh, the Church Fathers don't allow us to talk about that scripture." I assumed he was speaking of some men in the local church. I knew right then I was in the wrong church. But who are the church fathers? Sound like they were Catholic. Why would the SBC obey the will of Catholic fathers?

I cannot tell you how many are excited to ride down with Jesus on their horse. I'm sure you know already.

You can find "church father" quotes that suggest that some were premillennial. You can even find quotes of them saying "faith alone" word for word 1000 years before Luther: "And we, too, being called by His will in Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, nor by our own wisdom, or understanding, or godliness, or works which we have wrought in holiness of heart; but by that faith through which, from the beginning, Almighty God has justified all men; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." Clement of Rome (the forth pope), in a letter to the Corinthians "Again, they said that he who adhered to faith alone was cursed, but he shows that he who adhered to faith alone, is blessed." John Chrysostom, Commentary on Galatians Others, like Justin Martyr, seem to have not even had access to Paul's letters. But as you said, yes, most Church Fathers do not agree with Paul on many topics. Thank you for the lesson.

Latin _mille_ means "thousand". People have heard the common word _century_ which refers to 100 years. God's accounting of time is different than common Gentile accounting of time, as well.
