The forward planning that has gone into these environments is just brilliant. I feel these are building homes people can live in as opposed to exist in.

Agree with you Peter. It’s nice to see builders that don’t cut corners just because it’s a rental and make decisions that might be more expensive upfront but are cost effective and beneficial for people and their environment in the long run.

Why am I not surprised. Switzerland is a country that just works and they always think of stuff and are ahead of their time. America has a lot to learn.

I’m very surprised and confused because when I looked at the apartments in the area they all looked run down and small. What website are y’all using to find these apartments?

I`m Swiss and i have had 4 different apartments that i have bought in the last 14 years, all of them were modern and nice, all had blinds on the outside that worked electronically. Apartments are modern in Switzerland, no water tank showing from the toilet. Triple glazing in windows, great insulation, all my apartments had floor heating, wooden floors, just great.

Most of these are quite common in my country too, Bosnia and Herzegowina. Though in comparison to Switzerland, we have the living standard of Syria.

That’s super interesting considering what you said about the living standard. Would be really interesting to see more example “what makes sense” around the world.

@@HomeToursSwitzerland in many post-WW2 housing blocks in the Balkans is this stanard. I have big balcony next to my livingroom, looking south for maximum sunlight, a smaller balcony next the kitchen that saves you money on the hood , a full bathroom and guest toilet, as well as north-facing bedrooms and a slot in the basement. Basically high quality living.

The Budget apartment in Switzerland is probably more quality than many of the 13k condos existing here in the States.

We (girlfriend and I) love your videos. They're so well made! And tours of Swiss (particularly Zurich) apartments is interesting to us as we're moving there soon and we're also nosey. They have some great ideas on interior decorating too. Keep it up!

Way to make our day! Thank you so much for these words. We are definitely nosey too which is a big reason why we created this channel, to create an opportunity to see how other people live. How exciting that you are moving here soon! I hope you will enjoy it here as much as we do :)

Switzerland seems wonderful. In Japan, I love the bidet and washlets above the toilet that come with many toilets here.

We dream of having a Japanese toilette one day. They are excellent.

The garbage bags cost Sfr. 2 per bag but this covers the cost of collection by the council. If you own your own apartment you have your washing machine and tumbler in one of your bathrooms, and you dry your clothes either in the tumbler in Winter or you have a clothes stand you can put on your balcony. I have a built-in fridge but i also have a large cellar so i have two more fridges there. I have two parking spaces in the underground garage and they cost me Sfr. 32,000.00 per space. The majority of apartment complexes have underground garages. The parking spsaces cost money to buy them as it is very expensive to dig out a space for the parking and the cellars. All apartments have cellars, bicycle spaces.

Really cool overall, but the toilet flush seems a bit “splashy”. Toilets that release most of the flushed water through a little hole facing the main one seem to be the best in minimising that.
@HomeToursSwitzerland

Haha the toilettes are indeed a bit splashy! Had to get used to always putting the lid down before a flush here.

We will be moving to the Zurich area in August (work is in Zumikon). Your apt is lovely! Can you share an average cost for apartments similar to yours? Thanks for a great video!
@HomeToursSwitzerland
@HomeToursSwitzerland 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mary, Thank you for the compliment! Zumikon is in the vicinity of some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in all of Zürich! Where I live (a bit more in the countryside) would likely not be comparable to the range of that region. I welcome you to email me at chelsea@hometours.ch. I’m no real estate expert here, but perhaps I can provide you with more information on specific questions you might have.

I have a silly question... Why are there no window screens to keep out flying (crawling) biting insects?

@@HomeToursSwitzerland I have problems with bugs always entering through the windows, as well as many other Swiss residents whom I had spoken with about this annoying irritating problem 😖 But I found a solution... at many local Swiss home improvement stores they do sale window screens 🙂that can be easily installed 😁
