Things that make your band directors cringe: 1. -forgetting your instrument so you don’t have to play for the 50th time- leaving your instrument at home after practicing over the weekend

My band director showed me and my class this, and most of these are true. Mainly setting a clarinet on the ground like you did. My friend does that. And the other flute players in my band class always set their flute on their stands. I play a flute in band and even I don't do that.

One time we were switching pieces and I was on a different part than the last one so we had to switch chairs. I play trumpet, and the trombones are right behind us. In addition, the trumpets are on short risers and the trombones are on tall risers, so they have to put their stands in between the two. Anyway, I ended up knocking down the stand while I was trying to get past them.

Once in my concert band, we were playing Pirates of the Caribbean and one of my band mates knocked their stand off. We still had our stand so I tried to use my foot to shift our stand for them. Then I accidentally tipped ours. My other band mate who was sharing with me put her flute down and tried to pick up the stand while I kept playing for the flutes since everyone except me was busy with the stands. (There was only 4 of us, me, my stand mate, and the other two flutists who had their stand knocked out in the first place). Everyone one in the band held it together. Barely. Including me. After the piece we burst out laughing for about the rest of the lesson. Including our teachers. Concert bands are always fun.

You're supposed to take the flute apart (There's 4 parts, I think. I don't play flute but this is how all concert band instruments work, they all have at least 2 parts), then you put the parts in the case in their respective places, close the case and put the case, with the flute inside, in the locker. You don't just plop your instument in your locker on its own. Ever.

This is the kind of video I wish I had so I could should my band director while I was still in HS... I can relate to two things in this video; (1) The trombone on the chair thing and (2) the thing at the end. The trombone thing I learned quickly not to do as soon as I left MS since I got yelled at by the Upperclassmen in my section. The thing at the end is something that almost everyone tries once to see what it actually does (the downside is when it gets stuck in your instrument (which didn't happen to me luckily) and your director is like "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA SEE I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO IT!!!")
