You're actually supposed to pour water into the tube on top that flows into the base and then when the bars are resonating (they can be either bowed or struck), you can tilt the whole thing from side to side and the water moving around the base distorts the sound in a really neat way! it's a pretty classic horror sound effect, and a super cool instrument.

As an Amazon Worker, I find it hilarious that you bought so much, they just gave you the full tote bag.
