To be fair, my elders gave me plenty of indications of the pain of getting older. The thing is, that I thought it would take longer to get old to feel the pain. Next thing I know, I'm 70 and playing the, what's going to hurt today game...

In the days before I’ve literally been starfished through the air and slammed into various objects on multiple occasions, got up and walked it off with narry a mark to be seen. In the here and now I’ll bruise from a strong wind.

I get the feeling you must ride horses. (Maybe not, but you did accurately describe my younger equestrian life.) When the doctor asks me if I've fallen since our last meeting, I reply, "You mean without any help?"

My hips hurt, my elbow hurts and being fat makes laying down hurt. Young people shouldn't creak; they are too young to creak.

I'm 48 and absolutely beat my body working and playing hard. If you sneeze and that throws out your back for a week or wake up with swollen knees etc. Welcome to the club. I would gladly do it all over again. Sometimes, I get on my BMX and forget I'm old. My body reminds me.

The random pains are just great, aren’t they? I’m not much older than you, but I have the added joy of randomly falling down when walking because a knee has decided it no longer wishes to function. Well, it does do the bendy thing, so I suppose it does that function alright, but it forgets it has to do the holdy-up bit too. That day walking across the street from my truck to my parents’ house was fun. Crumpled heap in literally the middle of the road. Things for the younglings to look forward to.

The pain keeps me up all night most nights. But the pain lets me know I'm still alive. So I have this dart board sorta thing, and I throw a dart every night at bedtime. On the board are parts of the body. Right knee, right hip, right ankle, entire right leg, left hip, repeat from the right side, and my favorite, BOTH hips, knees, or entire legs. That plus the right shoulder, the so-called "Thoracic output" which kills my arm if it's not in exactly the right position, I will not go on. As a vet I figure you know all this but our crazy Uncle gave us all sorts of "benefits" for our service. So, yeah... pain.

Is anyone else here an exception to this?? Genuine question..cos while I dont wanna sound like I'm just bigging myself up. I gotta say it.. I'm 47 and have spent 30 yrs doing 1 of the most physical jobs imaginable. And while I've no doubt it WILL catch up with me at some point,, I've experienced absolutely nothing of this so far... surely I can't be the only one???

Keep going as long as you can. I had to leave a job I loved because I could physically no longer do it. No more daily driving a manual, or lifting and shifting patients up and down stairs without fear of either my leg buckling under my own weight (let alone when carrying someone), or my shoulder again coming out. Some days I’m on first name terms with pain killers 😁

You know all those pharma commercials that talk about the rising risks of getting Shingles after the age 50? Yeah I turned 50 last week, less than a week later I have shingles. They are giving me a muscle ache all over my body like the last time I had the flu or c19. Happy effin bday... But yeah the neighborhood kids still knock on my door asking if I want to play some park football. Well boys... "I ain't as good as I once was, but I am good once as i ever was"

He's lucky that his pain started in his thirties, I was born with my mother's curved spine, so my pain started when I was 21. OMG, did that hurt when it decided to let me know it was staying for to long hall. Ugh.

Wait until you get to be 73 or more. Lose a few pounds, walk daily, I do at least 12-15 weekly & move up north. When you walk in the cold and snow, it's like putting meat in the freezer. You don't age 8-)
