Gorgeous hair! My tip is to DEFINITELY condition and deep condition your locs. I used to be that loctitian who advocated against it until I took down my first set of locs. I have low porosity hair and when I became loose natural again, I paid for not conditioning. You can reduce build up by watering down thick conditioners and avoid your scalp as much as possible. Squeeze your locs as you rinse until the water runs clear. Once every 3-6 months, go to a loctitian to get the build up out, (if any) and deep condition again lol.

My advice is to start microlocs with the interlocing method. It will never unravel. I would also say DO NOT condition until your hair is fully locd because it will take a while for your hair to loc. Then you can condition if you want.

@wonnielee34073 жыл бұрын
@@kaylajames9334 i know this is late but, you need to get a nappy locks tool or some other interlocking tool first before you can do a retie. The video only describes the process she didn't do a visual for us either if that helps much.

I thought if you have low density you have less locks because then you have a few strands in a lock and it puts strain on the root if you have smaller locks .

Wonderful advice! I just uploaded my video of starting my microlocs! And I’m so excited for this journey! Can you do a video soon just showcasing how your locs look now with close up 365 shots. It is really thick, so it’s hard to see the progress of your individual locs.

I started my traditional locs from comb coils and while I don’t know anything about the microloc journey itself, I will say - given the amount of frizz and loose hairs I have with my traditionals, I could not imagine how difficult it would be to keep up with it if I had a higher loc count *my findings are probably not comb coil specific, but the structure of a coil vs a two strand twist or an instant loc or interlock would def be something to consider, along with hair texture and density, part size and all that

Like she said some people are tooo lazy & don’t want to take the extra time to rinse it out I have used spray leave in it rinsed out fine no buildup I also use deep conditioner after shampooing which I did yesterday with no buildup have spend at.least 10 minutes rinsing it out this why when people put color on their locs some have breakage not using conditioner is not a option for me I started using it as soon as my braidlocs was fully loc’d hot oil treatments doesn’t work for everyone
@africancoils3 жыл бұрын
@@fatimamanneh9432 Many conditioners contain cationic ingredients which can cause build-up because they don't rinse off with water - they have to be washed off with a surfactant. Cationic ingredients are great for loose hair because they stick to the strands which helps with detangling. When I had Braidlocs I used Coconut Water to condition my hair, it softened my strands and left my hair feeling moisturised. I used Braid Sprays and Sesame Oil to keep my locs in great condition.

I started my son's locs with comb coils and although his hair has locked his ends still have the coil pattern and hasn't really locked. It also made his locs puffier. I've recently started interlocking his hair instead of re-twisting because it would never last and always unravel at the scalp making his hair look like we never retwisted 🤦🏾♀️

Professionals recommend you wait until they lock b4 coloring which can take awhile depending on your texture. You're also not supposed to color and blow dry your hair at the same time. If you're not going to blow dry your hair 1st then it doesn't matter.
