“It’s not me vs her, it’s us vs the situation” I preach this ALL THE TIME to my friends!!!! Y’all are reading my mind lmao I was vigorously nodding my head hearing you say that. Relationships are a TEAM effort and should never be a competition of who’s gonna “win” over the other person! Resolving conflict should never leave one person feeling defeated, because if one person “loses” then you both lose

A resume of what they said: - Financially on the same Table - Have emotional Check up every Week - Get to know the Family - Choose to love not base on your feelings & emotions - comunication is important - In alignment with the heart desires ( when to have kids, where to live etc) - learn eachother " fighting styles" & continue to go on intentional Dates ( quality time) - Cherish every Moment, time goes very fast. Have slow moments and cherish them

I’m 20, and never had a relationship before, but I’m learning so much from them, especially the part where they mentioned to never invalidate someone else’s feelings just because you disagree. I honestly think this applies in many ways, and friendship-wise, I can totally relate to this. Thank you so much, Jess and Gabe ♥️

Now that I think about it. You guys got married realllllly young. Jess was 20 when she got married. And here I am 19 years old and studying for my majors. The idea of marriage doesn't even cross my mind, because I can barely just take care of myself 😅

Ikr. Back when I was in high school and watched them get married I was like that's so sweet I would do that if I met the right person, but here I am at 20 thinking I am in no way shape or form ready for that. I'm not saying it's bad that they got married young, but I do think it shows how incredibly mature they are and were. They're not that much older than us, but they've always been my mentors.

Hubby and I dated for 3 months, got engaged and married on the 4th month. Been married going on 17 years. And everything covered here is so true. I have to say, if you two have realized this in such a short time of your marriage, you guys are on the right track as long as you 2 continue to follow what you have learned. Not too many marriages realize these points until its too late. Marriage is hard work. It takes the 2 of you to work at it 100% of the time in order for it to work. Hubby and I say, marriage is like a full job. Almost 17 years and we are still in love with each other. Happy Anniversary!!

My husband and I got married just 6 days after you guys. One thing that really works for us is our ‘15 minutes’. Uninterrupted time with no distractions (phone, tv etc) to just talk every day for 15 minutes minimum. It can get hard sometimes with work and being busy to actually sit down and spend time only with your partner & it keeps us on the same page.

Many a time being in a relationship it's so hard to sit and have a heart-to-heart convo. because most of the time it's always lovey-dovey or just brushing away seems the most easy way escaping from argument. these videos are so so so so SO helpful. you should do videos like this regularly, or even consider starting a podcast. you guys have so much knowledge on how to have a successful relationship. it’s so inspiring and it’s also very reassuring when you guys talk about issues that you’ve had to work through together. it just goes to show that no relationship is perfect and there’s nothing wrong with hitting a bump in the road that takes some time to work out.

My husband and I got married just a couple of months before y'all (10.08.16), so we just celebrated our 5 year as well (and we celebrated 10 years together in November)! I get so excited about landmarks like this because our happy and healthy marriage is something I'm so proud of. That being said, I feel I needed to hear Jess say, "Cherish every moment," because while 5 years ago feels like a different time, it also went by so quickly. I think that everyone needs to practice a little more of living in the now.

I love how open and how mature you are. About the financial part and the debts, its so important, I'm French, moved to Toronto few years ago, credit cards and debts are not a thing in France like it is in North America and I didn't realize at the beginning of my Canadian dating life that it was something major in a relationship because I never had this situation back home. Ahh when I get to marry someone someday, for sure I will going back to this video for ~guidance~ hahaha. Because this is really a good video! The way you guys deliver every point is very easy to understand and mature, and not in a way that make a person uncomfortable about 'marriage'. Please make more of this! Love you guys!!

I love how raw and real this is. Jess you have me tearing up too, you are so sweet! You are so right though..you always feel good after a little crying moment, you gotta let that stuff go to make room for more positivityyyy. I love you guys so much. Hopefully I'm able to meet you guys one day or be a guest on one of these podcast type vids and we chill and drink coffee and I can cuddle Milo :') a girl can dream

can you make a video talking about how you dealt with long distance? ~ what you did to deal with not seeing each other, things to keep you connected, moments where you felt like maybe it wouldn’t work (if that did happen) love you guys & all you stand for xx

Loved this, Jess and Gabe! I recently just went through a breakup. I was dating this guy for a year and 1/2. What caused our breakup was his lack of communication. I noticed things were getting a little weird between us. I asked him if we were okay and he would always answer with you're overthinking as usual. Obviously that wasn't the case. He waited until last minute to tell me what was bothering him. It got to the point where his frustration turned him into someone very mean and hurtful. Communication is so important. I feel like if he spoke to me more about what was bothering him, than we could've fixed those things together.

It sounds like not only was this about communication but like he acted, maybe unintentionally, toxic towards you and you don't deserve that :)
