Your garden is so lush and naturally enticing. I imagine being a little child again there.

This is gorgeous and wonderful... but as an Australian the idea of a wildlife friendly garden is terrifying.
@opheriayu22 күн бұрын
😂 so true. Qld here. They don't have the predators and poisonous slithery things that visit areas that are left untouched 😅 I want to move there for this reason. We have to go out and keep busy in our garden because snakes will feel too welcome if we don't. Love Australia, though. ❤ I love the chill atmosphere where I live

@@opheriayu oh, honey. we do. they're just a different flavour of it.
@pumpkin236221 күн бұрын
@opheriayu oh I hear you! I like the snakes. Used to get in trouble for chasing brown and tiger snakes as a kid just to get a better look. But growing up in the Victoria bush... a wildlife friendly garden would be a very brown prickly anthill, with jumping jack ants (horrible bites and allergic reactions. And they chase you.) and millions of huntsmen and wolf spiders. @haldouglas4773 I hear you, and have spemt some months in the UK, but I don't think you get it til you pull on your pyjama pants and find a local wolf spider crawled in there while you were having a shower. And then sit on it.
@opheriayu20 күн бұрын
@haldouglas4773 hehehee of course. I mispoke. I don't mean there's nothing dangerous there, of course 😅 The weather there is nicer for the flowers too, I think. I have too many desert roses and bougainvillea. The frangipani takes a while. Planning on making that bonsai sized

@pumpkin2362 I used to not mind snakes, but after years of being afraid for my mum's health around them... one day, I was scared to be near them. I am still shooketh about the discovery of my ickiness towards them. I like spiders, though. Can't tell which is which, but I do like them. I have an issue with the blue tongued lizard that keeps chasing me and the chicken that side eyes me before "flying/high jump/low fly" at me 🤣 I ysed to want horses, and they seemed nice to me until my hair started attracting their nibbling. Now I just want a highland cow and a shetland pony. None of that "regular" sized horse craze. Actually, I can't have my own chickens because my brother is scared of them. That one chicken only comes out in the morning from who knows where to hunt me on my morning walk 🥲 Hope you're having a good weekend, mate. 🎇

I love how careful you are with non-native species! Ive spent a good portion of my adult life working as a restoration ecologist for natural spaces her the western US and I spent so much time teaching people about non natives, non native invasives, and noxious species to help protect and enhance our wild spaces.

This is my dream house and garden, cute and cottagecore but also so much nature and a wildlife sanctuary. I would’ve loved to play here as a kid or raise kids in the future teaching them to have a love for nature and animals Beautiful.

I want a garden like this someday! One question though, how do you deal with parasites like ticks with all the wild grass? Are they less common in your area, do the ducks eat them, or do you just go with bug spray when working in those areas? Just curious about this since I'd love to have a wild garden someday!
