Not many of us have even a basic understanding of how our bodies work- which is an incredible shame since, remember, you are your body. Enter, my Introduction to Movement series, based on many of the things I've learned over the years from my movement teacher Ido Portal, among many others.
This series is meant to get you up to speed on all the most important parts- and not only will we do it quickly, but also effectively- with tools and examples to help make this information a lot more digestible and easier to retain.
This video is however very dense, so I do highly recommend you get a pen and paper to take notes while you watch & or watch it a few times until you feel comfortable with all the information. I cover basic movement terms, muscular anatomy, the single most important rule for movement, and why talent doesn't really exist.
Also, a quick practice exercise to boost your retention after watching:
For the pushup, or any other exercise of your choosing:
1) What type of movement is it (open or closed),
2) What muscles does it use primarily?,
3) What joint actions and type of contraction is present at the different stages (descent, bottom, ascent, top)?
I'm also working on a number of projects, one of which is a coming 'Pillars Of Movement' course focused towards a new method for learning handstands & inversions (and much more). Sign up below to join the waitlist and get access to early-bird discounts and more.
