'Think Twice About Attacking Us': Taiwan Civilians Prep for Invasion from China's Communist Regime

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Inspired by Ukraine's ability to fight back against Russia forces, Taiwanese civilians are signing up for combat readiness exercises. Dozens of private companies are offering classes on urban warfare and military first-aid as the island readies itself for potential conflict with China.
For Carl Kuo, China's intention to take Taiwan by military force looks and feels more real with each passing day.
"Turn on the news and almost every day you hear how tensions between China and Taiwan are escalating," Kuo, a Taiwanese business owner, told CBN News.
The 24-year-old Taipei native runs a small grocery shop in a popular market area of the city.

Pretty much all the ppl in the world are peaceful except for the US government. But Philipines chose to work with that government. The South China Sea issue is nothing new. It existed for decades and decades without serious escalation. Yes, China has the nine-dashline claim, but other countries have overlaping claims too, yet nothing very serious happened until the US came into the game. What irony.

I heard a motivational speaker once reference game theory and war and he described why the US lost in Vietnam and why Russia lost in Afghanistan. In both cases the attacking force had a finite objective where the defending force had an infinite objective. Meaning that the attacking forces wanted to "finish" the conflict by some target date, target resource, or whatever and the defending force simply wanted them gone and had no timeline, no maximum amount of resources they were willing to use, no maximum amount of losses they were willing to sustain, etc. Basically the attackers were trying to play a finite game theory game against a player who was playing an infinite game theory game. In the long run the player with the finite strategy will almost always lose to the player with the infinite strategy and the reason is that you don't actually lose or win an infinite game, you only lose the will or resources to continue, and that will eventually happen to pretty much all finite players when pitted against an infinite player. China won't "win" and instead will just waste of lot of lives and resources to only eventually back off to due public backlash over the losses.

Everything is finite. The secret in Vietnam and Afghanistan (and this includes Afghanistan in the 2000s) is it was multigenerational. The Vietnamese were fighting for over 20 years - first against the French and then the Americans. An entire generation grew up knowing nothing but war. Instead of tearing them apart, it hardened them to fight.

In game theory there are several binary types of games that overlap like "perfect information", "imperfect information", "finite" and "infinite". Chess would be an example of a "finite perfect information game", poker a "finite imperfect information game", and depending on the context war is either a "finite imperfect information" game, meaning there is some set timeline, max losses, resources, etc, or it can be an "imperfect infinite" game which has a basic objective of just continuing the game or as it relates to war something like "getting them/they to leave or make it as painful as possible to stay". Throughout history there are very few counter examples where a player with a finite strategy in an imperfect information game "won" against a player with an infinite strategy.

@@crypticnomad OK, I understand where you're coming from, and I tend to agree. The major powers imposed limits whereas the weaker guerilla forces imposed none. The way I was looking at it, there's only a finite number of resources, (people, guns, bullets, etc) on both sides. The way the guerilla forces won was by convincing the general populace that they were fighting for them. IMHO, even if the US or USSR committed to infinite war, it is doubtful they could have still won

@@hermanwooster8944 Commiting to an infinite strategy would mean they would have said "We are staying no matter what happens" and had either of them actually decided to use an infinite strategy they would still be there today regardless of the resources used. A player doesn't win or lose an infinite game they only lose the will and or resources to continue.

I love seeing this! Sure it’s quite sad how this world has come to such measures where average people need to take up such preparatory steps just to feel ‘safe’ But at the end of the day no matter where you live and whom your neighbors are, being prepared and able to fend for yourself and your loved ones is the key to survival and always has been for thousands of years. We have become softened and weak as a species and live in fear quite often. It’s a beautiful thing to see people taking the steps toward living a more confident, capable life. Taiwan was taken over by Chinese Nationalists in 1945 and became the refuge for and a bastion of the Nationalist Party (Kuomintang) after 1949. In other words, prior to the end of WW2, Taiwan never existed. Taiwan being invaded today is no different from Chinese who ran from China displacing the indigenous tribes that already inhabited the island for 5,000 years.

In some places internationally, Taiwanese snack shops are nice and cheap and their food is simple and tasty. They have bubble tea house and such. There is a place in First Markham Place in Ontario, Canada that gives a free marinated Tea Eggs with every bubble tea order. You can get spicy fish/beef ball for cheap and such. Comfort food from food courts basically and I spent a lot of childhood years visiting places like malls and such.

This CBN News clip is so ignorant, it did not check what the status of Taiwan's military forces are now. The military draft has been 2 year min services since the 1950s, soldiers were well trained to swallow hardships, if a war to defend the island is necessary. But few years ago, due to most young men refused to be drafted, the govt reduced the service duration to 4 months, long enough for basic infantry training. More than 95% of the draft age men prefer optional community services, 6 months, instead of joining the military. Yeah, the less than 1% young men who will pick up arms, may still not willing to die for the island. 🤔😉😎

ive been in taiwan since 1997 ,taowan is a very good model of democracy,its a matured democracy.,taiwanese is very simple people inspite of thier abundantcy of culture,economy and industries.,theyre kind people and help each other,.almost zero percent corruption and respectful politician.,mil.and police honor/reputation and moral is very high.,the system of health insurance is amazing great..taiwanese is a law abiding citizens..so far in my own set of eyes taiwan is top 3 a Great model country..CCP china is as far as in 130...

I really hope the war will not happen ,but the war will happen, minimum in small scale. China & Taiwan each have to show its military might, you only can be friend with someone/state that is have strong equal military force.
