Appreciate you mentioning that the Cane Corso is naturally suspicious and extremely dominant. Too often, Cane Corso’s are shown on KZfaq as “big sweet babies”. They are absolutely not. They require an owner who will be consistently firm and provide constant structure. The rewards for your efforts are the best companion you could ever ask for.

We were told about our big bully is that they leave the jewels but they can do the same thing that they do to males. That way health issues are avoided. I love your attitude

I have a bo xmas. Bo xer mastiff best guard dog. We have socialized him since pup. He always watches by back and alert to any threat. You are great owners. Bane knows he is loved

Well... Thay lip things and thumb thing is what i did in conjunction with my boy when he was a baby qnd he hasn't bit on me since. I didn't know it was a method it was just in my mind to get him to know my hand is in yhere and you do not bite on it. Hes GREAT with brushing teeth etc. But like i said he will try to sneak aaway with my wife's sock and suckle on it whenever the breeze hits him. Ill tell her to go havk to the basics for that

Cane Corso’s, just like any guarding breed, are naturally suspicious of strangers. That doesn’t mean you can’t introduce new people into their lives. After a while, they will learn their ’circle’ (pack, family, handler, depending on your situation and how you wish to define it) accepts an individual or group of individuals and so will they. I’ve grown up around and trained guard/protection breeds pretty much all of my life. If you go about it right, they will be fine accepting new people in their lives. They might not be every visitor’s best buddy and they might not obey your new life partner as well as they will obey you, but they will learn to accept them. And as far as life partners go, you might be surprised: If your particular partner displays better habits than you do, your partner of choice might supplant you in their affections. I’ve seen that gappen, much to the dismay of their original handler. In that case, it’s your own fault. Be better.

My question is....If that dog gets mad at a time ...how would you stop that dog from hurting anything. People get big dogs for the fashion and the fade of things. PEOPLE PLEASE GET A DOG THAT YOU CAN HANDLE IN ANY SITUATION.

@nicholasbronson9653 Well, with your logic that "one-time" can happen with any dog! Nobody would have dogs if we all waited for that one-time to happen! All dogs can bite or attack! Obviously at different levels. It all comes down to the right obedience and behavioural training for the dog. Also the breeding process has alot to do with it. It's about not getting a breed/dog that you are not going to put the work into before and during! If you don't that's when disasters happen. There is alot of key factors not just whether your strong enough to handle a dog.

@@RaisingBane - Amen! As we say in my family: “Training is key… training the dog, AND training the handler(s).” More often than not, the dog “gets” it in one or two tries. The human(s) need more work. Humans are less consistent and need to learn to be consistent. Once the human is consistent, the dog has much less reason to be inconsistent/disobedient. If a dog from a ‘strong’ (-minded) breed knows he can get away with something, he will try to. If the signals you’re putting out are unclear, inconsistent, unsure in any way, your dog can either have difficulty interpreting them or read them wrong or think he can ignore them. Learning to be consistent and confident, is key just as much as training your dog. THANK YOU for being so truthful and candid. The world needs more people like you.
